The newest F model features an eight-speed automatic transmission matt an all-new 5.0-liter 32-valve V8 engine with more than 450 horsepower and more than 383 lb.-ft. torque. (it's NA)

Also, for the first time in a Lexus performance engine, the rear-wheel-drive coupe uses the Atkinson cycle at cruising speeds for enhanced fuel economy and then switches to the Otto cycle at higher rpm to enhance performance levels.

It's okay...

Not sure about the front hood, bulging like that (for the bigger engine).

It doesn't look proportionately balanced for the front end.

I prefer the regular RC.

StylinRed 01-14-2014 07:00 PM

^^ same here I prefer the regular RC it looks sleeker but I do like the Fs grill although looks like they nixed out those tiny fog lights

v_tec 01-14-2014 08:15 PM

Just like how I prefer the regular IS2/350 grill than the "F Sport" version

I share the same thoughts. The bulge in the hood makes the car look bulbous. Bulbous != sporty.

If they needed more room for a big V8, shouldn't they have learned from the IS-F and allocated more space during the design process?

StylinRed 01-17-2014 08:28 PM

yeah i thought maybe the bulge was going to be for a supercharger like the hood of the celica needed for the trd sc but nope :/

StylinRed 01-22-2014 10:36 AM

Gauges in action from the show floor

TOPEC 01-22-2014 12:20 PM

the tach looks amazing, but the speedo on the right looks out of place tho being an analog gauge

StylinRed 02-22-2014 06:32 PM

this is supposedly an ad for the RCF

Im sold! I could ride that F all day and still want more

Timpo 02-22-2014 06:38 PM

5L V8 and only 450hp?

That's kinda weak...I would expect over 500hp for that kinda displacement.

StylinRed 02-22-2014 08:41 PM

^^^ i actually dont know /shrug

but everyone is expecting it to have higher numbers than what toyota listed

the mustang 5l v8 only has 420hp though (gt)

and the f150s ti-vct 5l v8 has less torque and hp

GotRice? 02-23-2014 09:30 AM

i am guessing hav to pass emissions worldwide not just here in north america and reliability is probably why too... while bmw is going back to turbo I-6 toyota stick with V8... so definitely props for toyota...

TOTD: 2015 Lexus RC F or 2015 BMW M4 -- Which Would you Choose?

nns 02-23-2014 10:24 AM

HP numbers aren't everything. You have to remember the segment which the car is competing in. Just as a comparison, the C63 has a 6.2L V8 but only has 451 HP (non-performance pack). But the sound which the engine/exhaust makes IMO far makes up for any perceived lack of power.

This. At what RPM range the power "hits" is important too. All of the above mentioned cars (F150, Mustang, C63 etc.) hit their HP/torque peaks at relatively low RPMs, which makes for more useable power. Cars like Hondas on the other hand, typically need to be revved high to make the most of the available power. No hate

underscore 02-23-2014 07:56 PM

Lets be honest, the majority pf the rich people who buy it won't use more than a fraction of the power anyways.
