Murdoc, sorry to hear that you have been dealing with this. I can't imagine how hard it is for you to post on a forum that you have been bullied at work and by a female too. You should be very proud of yourself for taking it as long as you did and for speaking about it.

Firstly, ignore the trolls talk about getting the bitch back. You and I both know that is only going to work against you as you are the big bad man and the poor little innocent mother of two is the victim. Plus it violates Policy Item D3-116-1

Since you have already gone on stress leave here are a few questions.
1. What is in your benefit plan for therapist? Do you have an EAP? (Employee Assistance Plan)?
2. Document, Document, Document. Spend the next few days documenting everything that has happened. Take the emotion out of it and just state times, date, what was said, and most importantly who heard or saw that happened. This includes name of customers, co-workers, supervisors.
3. What are your policies? Based on what I read above you work for a large org based out East. There must be some policies in place. What are the procedures for reporting incidents? and if your supervisor didn't respond?

If you can provide more details on the above, I can provide you with a lot more information.

I am working crazy hours at the office, preping for end of year and suprise surprise reviewing our policies, so I don't log on to Revscene much. If you want help PM me.

Just a note about the Workplace Bullying and Harrassment Act. The majority of took effect Nov 1 however pieces have already been in place for years. It isn't winning the lottery. My feelings got hurt or someone looked at me the wrong way or they gave Bob the better duties and mine I hate. This is serious issue. I would take making a claim very seriously as until you have been through a thorough WSBC investigation, perhaps with your employer denying the claim, you have no idea how difficult it can be.

There are also other avenues such as Employment Standard and Human Rights.

Take care Murdoc. Be proud you have taken the first step. I hope you have family and friends supporting you.

If they are sending emails, I would suggest you make a copy in your personal inbox as you never know if they start deleting the emails.

As everyone says, document everything that happens. In fact, start documenting it in front of her with the time and all witnesses.

All the best. As people have mentioned, there should be policies in place for harrassment. I work for a big regional corporation and I can guarantee if bullying was reported to HR or the media, that person would be let go immediately. Thankfully, that culture does not exist around here.

Still trying to decide what to do and tempted to call Work Safe BC and see what they have to say on the matter.

XplicitLuder 11-21-2013 11:46 PM

i'd be past "tempted" and would just call in dude..you're a grown man why are you putting up with this crap ? best of luck

I don't work in a big nor unionized company but bullying isn't tolerated at my work place. Canada is a multicultural country. So neither big nor small companies should ignore that fact. You having to take a stress leave is considered to be a health and safety issue, I believe it's best to bring all evidence forward to Work Safe BC. Sorry to hear about your situation.

murd0c 11-29-2013 09:54 PM

I did contact Work Safe BC today and filed a claim, the person I spoke with said I did the right thing by contacting them and someone will be in touch with me next week. This is going to get interesting and will keep everyone updated whats going on.

Thank you everyone for the advice, it's been very hard for me dealing with this, kinda like a dream in a way.

get a case number, PRINT OUT all your emails and evidence, get a lawyer even. There's always a few sides of the story but from what I hear, bullying is bullying so....

good job for standing up and i do wish you all the best.

Yup I have a case number and the only email I have is the one that was passed around the company and to customers thats photo shopped with my head on a pic of a person getting raped

bobbinka 12-04-2013 04:49 PM

forward your emails home or print them out, incase they let you go and wipe your account

murd0c 12-09-2013 05:03 PM

So I called Work Safe BC last week but haven't spoken to my case worker yet since she has been on vacation...

So I went back to work today and and of course sat down with the GM, Operations Manager and Supervisor about the whole thing....

So they wanted to know what was stressing me out and for how long (1- 1 1/2yrs now I told them) and they of course went over everything about being in such a relaxed environment at my work. They then said to me about me joking around and I bring it on my self a lot of the time. I told them I joke around about it because thats how I actually know how to deal with the jokes, I'm not lashing back out at another person I'm making fun of myself which I have always done as a kid.

Then of course I said about the Worksafe BC claim and my boss was like do you really want to do that? if you do all of the stuff you have done/said over the years will come out as well and everyone here will be embarrassed. Your dad will be embarrassed because of the response he gave my supervisor when she made the swallow comment to him (his exact response was "her mom didn't teach her to swallow") the customer he was with was prob on the ground laughing he thought it was so funny. As well I slapped her ass while dancing at a xmas party in front of her husband a couple years ago and that will come out as well. He said think very closely before you say something about the claim because because like I said everything will come out and all the parties will be embarrassed with this situation. He of course told me I'm starting with a clean slate now and everything that has happened will be forgot about and company policys are in place and I should of spoken to someone before doing this.

Isn't this stuff he's saying to me considered bullying at well trying to threaten me what will be said and happen??? He even said that I called a Fijian co-worker Nigger before which I would never fricken say that but he's joked around that I said that to him...

I'm just kind of at a loss for works right now and not sure what to say or what I should really do because I'm so embarrassed and ashamed already with what I did...

I've been ranting and hopefully what I said has even made sense right now.. I betcha he hasn't even thought about the email with the picture that has been passed around, could I be shooting myself in the head if I even follow through with Worksafe BC with shit I have said in the past that has bothered no one except give them laughs?

I'm posting this pic that was passed around to get your guys full input here which I really appreciate, please don't joke about it since honestly its nothing to joke about and value everyone.s support and opinion.

Oh jesus man, this whole thing is horrendous!

YES, everything they said to you to day was bullying and intimidation! Not only that, but the conversation was literally 3:1.

Whatever you do, don't give up. You are doing the right thing, man. Hold your head high and don't let them get to you. When this goes to court or arbitration, just let everything out...good and bad. Let the chips fall where they may. We have all been guilty of saying less than appropriate things at work, but what happen to you is beyond that.

That picture is so past the line of acceptable, it is disgusting.

I am sorry you are dealing with this, man. This makes my skin crawl.

BoostedBB6 12-09-2013 07:59 PM

Do the right thing, call WorksafeBC.
I have to commend you tho, I think I would have been fired long ago after taking taking this guy to the bar for a few drinks....

Unbelievable that the company lets this go on.....sounds like its a good idea to move.

BoostedBB6 12-09-2013 08:04 PM

Sounds to me like you need to leave that place......and get a lawyer because these people are vial people. The GM doing that to you.....yeah, I would have let him have it right then and there.

Hondaracer 12-09-2013 08:58 PM

your workplace sounds like a fucking joke man..

The company i work for now is only about 30 people and we grew from essentially nothing, we have no HR dept, all our policies were essentially adopted from previous companies the owner worked for, and we employee a whole bunch of people who are under 28 and it would be like completely ABSURD to have anything close to this happen within our company

take it all up with WCB, fuck what they say

murd0c 12-09-2013 09:16 PM

It's so hard to believe because we are a 300+ million dollar company with over 400 employe's with a branch in every province with two in BC and Alberta.

Recon604 12-09-2013 09:47 PM

tat picture is out of line. dont let them get to you, get a good lawyer, you must go thru with this

Jas29 12-21-2013 01:32 PM

Any updates?

murd0c 07-02-2014 08:25 PM

I thought I would bump this...

So I decided not to go through with filing any claims and I have stuck it out for the past 6 months until I received my yearly bonus. I'm proud to say I gave my two weeks today to go to my direct competition. I of course gave 2 1/2 weeks notice and let walked me out the door right away but I'm happy to say I still left on good terms with everyone which was still important since I'm in such a small industry.

Now its time to hit them where it hurts and take those customer orders which I have already done!!!

I wanted thank everyone for their kind words and support when I was dealing with this BS cause you guys truly helped when I was going through this difficult time.

Reece

Stay strong Murdoc, nice going

Inaii 07-02-2014 09:23 PM

Good luck at your new job! I'm sure it'll be a major improvement over your last one :)

DGN23 07-03-2014 08:57 PM

Just read this whole thread. That is some messed up shit man. Glad to hear you got out. Good luck at the new place. FYI they have to pay you the time that you would have been working after you gave notice. They can kick you out but you are still owed that 2 weeks of pay.

murd0c 07-03-2014 11:40 PM

oh I'm fully aware of that and they still owe me for the 9 vacation days I have left as well
