Lots of people stopping by Neptune's Net in Malibu all week. There's a larger gathering planned for the weekend from other boards here in LA.

Here's the scene shot at this location in the first Fast and the Furious:

I didnt wanna say this and I know I m gonna get flamed for it because he's an idol to many including myself.

But this incident reminds me of the accident we had in vancouver where the Mazda 3 crashed and resulted in 2 deaths (driver and passenger)

Both incidents were because of speeding. And honestly this thread got so much respect while the other just got the "well they deserved it cause they sped like idiots and didn't care about other people's safety".

But again, I m only assuming this incident involves speeding because I ve previously asked and members were saying speeding is a factor. If they weren't then my bad.

Just watched FnF6 on my flight from London to Vancouver, got off the plane to hear this news.. RIP Paul Walker...

You're talking about the Mazda 6 on Lions Gate?
I know the passenger that died and attended his funeral. It was a sad moment.

I think the main point is that people shouldn't drive their cars to its limits on the street, but do so on a track. The owner of AE performance (who was the driver of that CGT) was an experienced driver, but nothing can beat the laws of physics when spinning out of control towards a tree.

I do wonder how fast they were going to have the Carrera GT mangled into such a state.

zilley 12-01-2013 11:47 PM

Yes, that one. I was just saying how two threads but different people could get such different responses.

MaaaadMan 12-01-2013 11:51 PM

Obviously speeding was the factor of the crash, but the CGT is notoriously sketchy to drive at the limit. In fact, Walter Rohl once said the car was incredibly scary to drive and that's the same guy who drove a 500+hp 1000kg Audi at over 200km/h in the forest.

i remember that episode of top gear where they "reviewed" the cgt and stig spun out multiple times in it.

Rodas knew what he was doing, sort of. They went for a "spin" in rural areas of Cali where there's no traffic on a Sunday afternoon.

They were not pushing the limits on a fucking three lane bridge with no dividers in rainy condition.

zilley 12-02-2013 12:34 AM

Meh, I wasn't here to start a debate.

I just thought both of these incidents were very similar.

I didn't know 45 mph was the CGT's limit.

:troll:

Using public roads to rip around in is stupid no matter who it is.

RIP Paul Walker.

LightKeeper 12-02-2013 01:57 AM

Wow, this news was too sudden..
The sad thing is he wasn't even driving.

R.I.P Paul Walker.

He will be a model to us fans forever.

I would think the real tragedy is his daughter losing her father, not the car community losing an enthusiast.

If pro driver can lose it driving a sports car on the street, you may want to think twice about pushing your street cars so hard in the future. Even if you don't care about your own life, think of all the others that your death would affect.

Please drive carefully.

xXSupa 12-02-2013 01:23 PM

^I'll be there with Kunoman1

GS8 12-02-2013 01:58 PM

Was the driver of the car determined? I heard they had to check dental records to determine it.

Great68 12-02-2013 02:07 PM

I was never a huge fan of the Fast & Furious movies, but he seemed like a nice guy.

I feel bad for his loved ones, hopefully he was gone before the fire got to him.

The above picture of him with the angel wings is a bit over the top though...

I've been trying to verify that quote that's attributed to him and am coming up with nothing.

RIP Paul

So sad for his daughter to loose her father at such a young age...
