Fast and the Furious actor Paul Walker was killed in a car crash on Saturday and, according to reports, the driver of the car was Roger Rodas, who has driven in the Pirelli World Challenge.

Rodas and Walker were Porsche enthusiasts and owned a race team together. The Porsche Carrera GT they were in crashed after they drove the car from a charity event. Authorities said that when they arrived, the car was engulfed in flames.

“Him and his buddy, his brother in arms at heart, just decided to joyride, take a spin," Antonio Holmes, a friend of Walker's who was at the event, told the Santa Clarita Valley Signal. "Something we all do. We're all car enthusiasts. ... We’re all here driving, enjoying each other, and God must’ve needed help."

The PWC is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America, and Rodas drove in the GTS Series this season. He finished second in the Porsche Drivers Cup Series last year with two wins for Always Evolving, the team that he and Walker started. Per his bio on the PWC site, Rodas was a wealth adviser for Merrill Lynch.

Let's be honest here. Paul Walker's acting isn't the best and most of his movies sucked - other than F&F. Even then some of them did, I didn't like the second F&F very much. But why do I feel an emptiness now.......

I think its because he personified the term "car enthusiast" for me as I was growing up. As an 80's kid, I was in my adolescence during his rise to fame, and this coincided with my hobby of cars. I remember watching F&F on Bell XpressVu with my hacked box. I watched it over and over non-stop. I idolized him, like many RS'ers here. Not because he was good at acting, cuz he isn't. Neither was it because he depicted illegal street racing as "cool", cuz its not. It was because he was a genuine car enthusiast on-screen and off.

Losing your idol sucks. I think this is the first time I truly felt such a feeling. When Michael Jackson died 4 years ago, I shrugged it off. Today when I read the news, my heart stopped. I wished it wasn't true. The only consolation I got from the news was that he was doing what he liked when he died; cuz not many people can do that.

I don't think the F&F will ever be the same. I don't think anyone can play Brian O'Connor ever again. I bid farewell to my idol. You will be missed.

='(

Wow, after reading that I wanted to beat the living fuck out of that useless piece of shit thinking he is higher above than anyone and thinking he is smart as hell.

So far we don't know the road conditions or anything, there could have been something wrong for the car for all we know.

Even then it was not him driving it.... and they were coming from a charity event... more than that blabbermouth has ever done with his life for anyone in the world. Pfft.

Internet warrior at best; he manages to talk shit about Michael Schumacher as well... what a fucking joke.

R.I.P Paul Walker/Brian O'Conner.

RIP Paul, I had the pleasure of meeting him while working for one of my clients on location in the same film as him. Truly an easy going everyday guy despite his fame.

:suspicious: you met Jason biggs & his sister?

Psykopathik 12-01-2013 05:43 AM

the more i think about this the sadder i get. Used to call him wooden Walker in regards to his acting. despite what i thought about his work, you cannot take away the lasting impact his being in the Fast and the Furious series.

In the first movie when he drove the riced out neon green Eagle Talon, I have to say i got goosebumps. It was the beginning of revolution of sorts regarding the hobby I loved.

to find he was my age and a father as well, that just hits even harder.

this guy influenced all of us in a big way-like it or not. I remeber when I didn't have cable and only had a few movies when I was a kid. Fast and the furious 1 got raped by my DVD player...really sad to see him go out like this...

RIP Paul Walk

RIP Paul Walker, you will definitely without a doubt be missed. I was in disbelief when I was told the news that he had passed away. The world has lost a great car enthusiast and someone who has grown up with me with the Fast and Furious franchise.

RIP Paul Walker.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Going to FS or BB to buy the collection.
For some reason, when I heard about the news and it was confirmed he passed away, apart of me cringed. Don't know why I felt this way, but it just did. If it was a different actor or actress tha died, i probably wouldn't have felt the same,
but regardless of that, RIP Walker. :okay:

Good times!

A bunch of my car buddies and I would always make it a point to hit up the Drive-In in Aldergrove every time a new F&F movie would come out. I hope they'll be able to rework the remainder of the script for F7 so that they can at least release it and maybe bring at least a bit of closure. Obviously they'll have to pull some tricks out of their bag, a la The Crow after Brandon Lee was killed, but it would be a nice tribute to PW if they can make it work.

Give us back Han to lessen the blow!

fuzebox 12-01-2013 09:47 AM

I remember the premiere of the first F&F at Colossus, afterwards the whole theatre ran to their cars and tore off to the Port Kells races. Ahhh nostalgia.
