Dating vegetarians

Wondering if anyone wants to share thoughts on dating a vegetarian person. I'm not vegetarian. Turns out she is. Never been in this situation before. How do you guys figure out meals, what restaurants are good ones, and how do you avoid conflict and wrecking the relationship.

Easy. Go to a restaurant that serves salad or tofu.

every restaurant "except steakhouses" will have part of the menu dedicated to vegetarian/vegans.. its her choice to be vegetarian, and hopefully shes a big girl and can figure it out..

if you make dinner, dont put meat in her portion.. more for you! WIN

this seems very simple..

my GF dosnt like fish.. so she dosnt eat/order it... it dosnt effect me cuz im not forcing her to eat it. i dont have to hold her hand and if your diet is concern enough to have doubts in the relationship maybe its time to move on.

I'm a vegetarian who's dated non-vegetarians. It's not especially difficult. In my relationships, I've compromised on sometimes eating vegetarian focused meals and other times eating non-vegetarian focused meals lacking the meat. It's important that you're open to sometimes eating vegetarian focused meals, and that non-vegetarian focused meals aren't literally steak and potatos. Pasta is an example of something that's easy to prepare as equally vegetarian/non-vegetarian. It's not uncommon to have non-vegetarians push meat on vegetarians, but don't do it. A restaurant that's lacking vegetarian options is uncommon, so I wouldn't really worry. A thread discussing vegetarian restaurants is existant in the food forum. All in all, it's not a big deal. I wouldn't worry about it potentially wrecking the relationship. I'm sure she's dated non-vegetarians in the past and knows how it goes.

I know a Vegan that does....

That being said dating a vegetarian isn't a bad thing at all, actually it might be a good thing to open your mind on healthier eating. I have a good friend that is a vegetarian but loves to cook and the smell of meat, at long as shit doesn't mind being around meat then don't worry at all.

The 10 best meals of my life were all meat related

No thanks to dating a veggie let alone a picky eater.

This I agree with. I don't care if you're a vegetarian or a carnivore, picky eaters of any kind are annoying if you're the type that likes food.

i couldn't and wouldn't date one. i'm sorry... that's one non negotiable i can't overcome.

Guess you gotta help her out with her source of protein

As long as she doesn't try and convert you, who gives a shit. However, the longer you date, the more likely that you'll just eat what she eats and become quasi vegetarian (I say this because you'll still have a steak/burger with your friends etc)

Oh, and just you wait until she's comfortable enough to start dropping bombs in front of you. According to a friend, his wife's vegetarian farts are room clearing powerful :lol

Good luck OP!

SkinnyPupp 12-24-2013 08:39 AM

Yeah vegetarian farts and burps are something you have to experience to believe :heckno:

dated a super healthy kinda girl before...all her meat was cooked just to the point where it would be safe to eat...all vegetables she ate would be raw, no salt was allowed. she'd take a spoonful of liquid ginger shit a day which would make her breath reek for the next hour and she would try to convert me which I figured she would try...
its quite nice, I don't fart around my gf, she doesn't do it around me.
but the health girl...her bathroom was beside her bedroom, it was an older house, so the heat vent was in the wall at the bottom and went straight through to the bathroom...several times i could hear her going in at 3-4 am to unload....fucking thing sounded like she was trying to get every last bit out of a ketchup bottle...for 2 minutes straight. then the smell that would go into her room was enough to make me want to puke!

no more vegetarians/super health conscious people for me...

guddagudd 12-24-2013 11:45 AM

^did you break up with her because of that?

stewie 12-24-2013 01:17 PM

No, it was a different reason, but that one surely helped me make up my mind faster
