Decided to do something kind of random today, hopped on hwy1, took 232nd exit and just drove. Found some really neat areas, especially with this fog. I will have to do it again, was a ton of fun. Found a dece location and did an impromptu iPhone photo shoot :)

OH MY GOD :O

EDIT: Can you link google maps?

MG1 01-17-2014 07:55 PM

LOL, some of you guys need to get out of Richmond once in a while. There are tonnes of roads like that in the Fraser Valley. That is Manning Park, BTW.

Speaking of great roads, I will never forget the 4-1/2 week road trip I took a few summers ago. Drove down to Seattle, cut across the I 90 to New York, hitting all major cities and towns in between, up to Nova Scotia and back via the Trans Canada. Unforgettable sunrises, sunsets, long straight stretches of road, mountain passes, deserts, and everything in between. The best stretch of road I remember driving was in Cape Breton.

Road Trip: Cape Breton, Nova Scotia -- National Geographic

You never know how great this country is until you drive across it. The people you meet and the awesome historic places. Castles, forts, and monuments.

Flying to places is lame. Driving is where it's at. Next, I'm going to drive north to the arctic.

^^ my uncle did the up north drive in his old iroc camarp. Everytime there is a big summer BBQ he mentions it; driving up and seeing the northern lights was the best experience of his life

In 2016 I plan on flying to Newfoundland, buying a cheap car, watching Targa Newfoundland and then driving back.

It's an uphill road across the street from Manning Park Resort.
I've driven it, very fun tricky piece of road, not as bumpy as you'd expect.
Very dangerous though. It's a two lane but only wide enough for 1.5 cars, and you really have to be careful going fast because there MIGHT be a car coming the opposite direction, going either up / down, and there is no railing.
And it is HIGH.

going 50-60kph is really pushing it when you don't know if there are other cars.

You can't drive the whole thing though if you're in a sports car.
Part of it isn't paved, so unless you want to drive on rough gravel, you can't get to the highest point.

When you get to the end of the asphalt though...my god are you in for a spectacular view..

Here's a pic i took

^ditto everything he just said, fun road but a lot of blind corners with a cliff on one side and a rock wall on the other.

My photo from that lookout:
