Is that just polyurethane? Hit it with some polish and it'll be gone. I scratched mine by accident cause I didnt remember I had a lip...polished it, and it was gone.

Op's maturity has nothing to do with principles at hand, or have you not gotten that yet?

I'd at least have headquarters to force an apology letter from don docksteader, if you can fix it yourself or not easily or difficult is not the point of this thread.
Damage is damage and laughing in your face when you are not to blame is not good PR.
Facts are facts.

I believe it's just hard plastic.

friend had his v-limited PU lip ripped off at Don Docksteader, needless to say they replaced it. But he was only on RCE springs and stock shocks. This leaves the question what exactly were they doing to be able to rip it off.....

zilley 01-15-2014 12:36 AM

why so many idiots in this thread?

just because its UNDER and you cant see it unless you look carefully doesnt change the fact that the Dealership fucked it up.

ones saying "its okay, let it go" JUST because its not your car, and what if today it was your cars underside bumper that scraped? I bet youd be threatening a law suit on their ass.

and wtf is a "waabulance".

Exactly the way you're supposed to do it.
I mashed mine 5 minutes after installing it.
byebye lip virginity. Now it doesn't even scrape. Instant ground clearance.

TOPEC 01-15-2014 03:38 AM

LOL @ everyone in the thread giving op shit just cause its on the under side of a lip, yes lips will eventually get scratched/damaged,

BUT

the fact of the matter is, dealer caused the damage to customer's vehicle, customer has proof damage was not there before service, dealer refuses any compensation, not even a sorry

doesnt matter if the damage is hidden/under side/cant be seen, it doesnt change the fact that the dealer damaged it.

zilley 01-15-2014 04:07 AM

Thank You Topec.

I never could understand why some dealerships don't go out of their way to provide top notch customer service.

something similar happened to me as well.. BUT I wasn't there to witness NOR did I have a dashcam. dealership did the right thing and called me and repainted the bumper.

DaJo 01-15-2014 07:55 AM

Thank you all for those who are in support. No one should go through this, no matter how light or bad the damage is. The fact is, the dealer did not own it up.

I am trying to locate Mark Kellock's e-mail address so I can direct my concerns to him about the dealer's unprofessional services and irresponsibility as he is the General Manager.

I have tried googling this information but no luck... Does anyone know how I can obtain that information?

I feel you, it sucks. After a while you won't care, I wouldn't bother pursuing it, just never bring your car back again.

I'm super ocd about my car, but after a while I just forced myself to stop being so picky about everything and actually started enjoying the car rather than worrying about every nick and scratch. I brought my brand new benz in for the first service at the dealership and after picking it up and driving home, I found out the dealership heavily scratched by driver side b-pillar as well as my windshield. I concluded it must of been the service guys holding a clipboard while working on my car. I was furious at first but after a while I said fuck it and will get it polished out eventually. Not worth it, cars are meant to be used and will get scratched sooner or later. I'd rather use it and enjoy than be paranoid about everything.

I would be pissed in that situation imo. I don't pay 150-200/hr for some retard to scratch up the car, I would expect a little more consideration for paying 2x the price of a specialist shop. If it was Canadian Tire, I'd understand, but not a Mercedes dealer.

604STIG 01-15-2014 08:43 AM

Everyone saying let it go, no big deal, it's his ride and he has every right to be pissed off about it. Just because you guys can't see it as you walk by doesn't mean the damage doesn't exist and the dealership should do the right thing and own up to it. That's just poor service in my books.
I had my car in at Boundary Mercedes and when I went to pick it up my salesman pointed out a tiny scratch on the rear bumper that I couldn't even notice, they voluntarily owned up to it and said their lot guy touched my rear bumper to the license plate frame on another car. They kept the car for 2 more days and repainted my rear bumper, something I didn't even ask them to do. That's what customer service should be like.

Kaolinite 01-15-2014 09:24 AM

I would be pissed as well if the dealer scratched my $2000 lip on my STI.. thats why i bought a $90 one from ebay lol

cruz-in 01-15-2014 09:39 AM

pay to play baby, we all know what can happen once you start modding your car.

what happens?

shit happens.

$600 is alot yes, and the dealer may have done it, but its going to hard to get anything out of them especially since its underneath the car.

sorry to say.

just take it to richmond subaru :p

First mistake was buying a $2000 "lip" kit. Seriously... $2000? What were you thinking it's simple ABS plastic. Also, shit happens. It' barely scuffed and no one can see it. Don't be so worried. No one cares you have a lip let alone will notice it's slightly scuffed.

I don't think the dealer should have to replace it or fix it. It's part of owning a car, things get scratched/worn etc. It was bound to eventually happen. Hell, they probably park the same type of car in that spot all the time and low and behold yours has a barely noticeable lip and they make a mistake. Deal with it and move on. It's only a car.

But then again this is RevScene so I'll probably get failed for making a valid and reasonable argument.

I understand it is just a car and scuffs and scratches are inevitable, but listen to yourself here. You think it is okay/fair for a dealer to damage their paying customers' cars and not need to own up to it?

Also, how is it my mistake for buying a $2000 lip kit? I don't buy it for others to damage it.

dovo 01-15-2014 12:59 PM

lip kit consista of side skirt rear lip spoiler and front lip kit? they scratched all of those? or that front lip by itself is $2000? misleading title.

Anyway, OP that sucks. $2000 is a lot of hard earned cash and for someone else to damage it sucks (even though it's bound to happen *knock on wood*). Hopefully they live up to it and compensate you with something or a meaningful apology.

At least it didn't snap in half or visible from the front.
