I think part of the reason why this thread has gone downhill is because you essentially started off bragging about owning an expensive'ish lip kit. The tone made you sound like a spoiled kid used to getting your way, regardless of fault. Not saying that's actually the case; rather, it's just how it sounded like... at least to begin with. Simply posting something like, "Such-and-such dealership scraped my bumper/lip and wont admit responsibility. What are my options?" would have been a far better way to avoid becoming flame bait. Personally I could care less if the underside of my bumper gets scraped, regardless of who was at fault. A few years ago I dropped a ton of money into repainting a lowered car and as I was standing outside waiting to pick the car up, the lot boy took a speed bump too fast and scrapped the hell out of the underside of the lip. While the shop manager was aghast and offered to repaint it free of charge, I couldn't be bothered. Regardless of whether my vehicles were stock height or stanced an inch off the ground, it's an inevitability that you'll eventually scrape the underside of your car at some point. Hell, I managed to scrape the underside of my Pathfinder a couple weeks back (don't ask me how... lol). Now, I'm not saying that you're wasting time by attempting to get the shop to admit fault and repaint it, but from the shop's point of view, that damage could have already been existing and you're just another asshole customer trying to get something for free (I've personally dealt with a few customers like that, so I can definitely see why the shop may be taking that train of thought). Either way, good luck with the situation. |
-mechanic should have reversed the car in, it's common courtesy -dealer shouldn't be scratching up customer cars and should fix it on a matter of principle -2000$ for a full lip kit is stupid -lowered cars = bottom out, it's unavoidable and will eventually happen -no one can see the scratch all points just kinda repeating itself for 4 pages so far, I think they're all correct. personally if I had a nice car that was lowered, I would take it to shops like speed syndicate, racing greed, and garage5 for maintanence, not to offend dealer mechanics but they're just not use to the issues that comes with have expensive modded cars I'll skip on the warranty claims thanks, or find another way around it, I just don't like other people touching my car, accidents and momentary lapse of judgement are bound to happen... I just rather it happen in my possession than someone else's Posted via RS Mobile |

I took my car to Don Docksteader in the past. I had a fiberglass v-limited lip at one point, which the mechanic did bottom out. They owned up to it and told me straight up after it happened. They came and said " errr.... your service is done, but we kinda damaged your front lip " They didn't try to push the paperwork through, get me out the door ASAP and hope I don't see it until i drive off the lot. In the end, they figured it was too much to repair it than to buy me a new one. They told me to send them a site online of an equivalent and they ordered, and called me when they got it. Guess I was lucky. Ended up with a polyurethane one, still on the car to this day. After that, I made sure I make them write a note down for the mechanic to see that my car has a lip as a precaution. On a side note, I must say you are pretty paranoid taking picture of your front lip before the service. If I was the manager, it would come off as " woah... how do I know you didn't take those pictures and try to pull a fast one on me to get me to fix your lip?" Don't get me wrong, I am not saying you did that but you gotta look at both sides right? At this point, you can switch to Richmond Subaru.... remember not to let them wash your car washed tho :troll: -KC |

Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned how much the lip kit costed me since so many are so ignorant to the facts... My bad, but those who choose to believe what they believe is okay with me, I'm just putting this out there so you people are aware of what's going on. I'm not asking them to compensate me anything (don't think it was ever mentioned anywhere that I wanted them to pay for my lip or full kit, some of you guys need to learn how to read; seriously). |

Both my IS and A4 were lowered and inevitably the bumpers were scratched to shit underneath. It's unavoidable whereas the rims on my BMW are still pristine. |

If you have a home, a job, friends and family, this shouldn't be a big deal. I know you have been wronged, but that's life. Pick yourself up and brush yourself off and move on. This is a "FIRST WORLD" problem thread and needs to be locked. |
Lol, op came in here sharing his experience and receives insults for posting Posted via RS Mobile |

BTW, having this forum for you to sit in front of is already a "First World" problem. (Don't take that as an insult of any sort.) |

I have mentioned numerous times that I know the car is just a car and scrapes and dents will happen, heck I've had the car for almost 2 years now and got a door ding the first couple weeks of ownership. My point is, I am just here to post my experience with this particular dealer's service centre and just wanted to let fellow enthusiasts know. |

Yeah what the fuck? It's under the car and nobody will ever see this cosmetic damage. It's a part of owning a lowered car, what a dumb ass. |

Funny thing is there's a GLK that's been parked in front of the dealership for over 1.5 years with a huge sign saying his brand new glk's tire exploded on the highway, and telling people to boycott Mercedes because of poor quality haha. Such a waste of a car and time since no other damage happened, and Mercedes even replaced it out of courtesy. |
I can see both sides of this.. Yeah its not a big deal and yeah you're probably gonna scratch it yourself eventually but it's a matter of principal. The point isn't the scratch, it's that the dealership won't own up to their mistake. That's not how dealerships should operate. Similar to if say you were shopping and the cashier short changes you five bucks or something. It's not a big deal, but I bet most of you would argue with the guy over it if he doesn't admit that he made a mistake and correct it. If you would leave it then you're just a pushover. And that's fine too, it's just the Op clearly isn't one, and I don't think he should be flamed for being someone who wants to prove a point by not letting dealerships getting away with making mistakes and not owning up to them. after following this thread, I realized how many people have such fucked up logic. no wonder not everyone gets along. |

In other news, baby's in third world Country's are starving to death. |
I'll bet a lot of people in this thread had a chuckle when they saw the damage, come one now.. haha I did that to my lip every day during Summer and it still looks fine from looking at it straight on! Thank God for adjustable coilovers. |
Wow some people in here are just dumb as fuck He isnt complaining about the scratches but the fact that he has proof they did it and they wont admit shit. Also wtf kind of logic is 1st mistake is buying a 2k lip kit? I mean I understand thats a lot of cash ut why stop there? 1st mistake is buying a new car when a Geo is like $300 blah blah blah Also what if dealership bent you rim? I mean its just not straight anymore but you cant see the damage. Does that fall under the "part of owning a car" Personally I feel like we have soo many shitty dealerships cause people get over it or let it go too much. Im glad I gave OR shit when they screwed me and didnt post about it on RS. Posted via RS Mobile |
Where can I get a 3,000 lip kit? |
for ur civic? doesnt exist bro. nice try tho. |
Your problems are nothing compared to this guy: http://www.revscene.net/forums/69185...fuses-pay.html :troll: EDIT: Aww someone beat me to it, only by a bit though... I'll save you guys the trouble and fail myself... |
I would have to agree that the scratches on the underside of the lip are 'inevitable', but I sure as hell would be extremely pissed off if it was scratched by anyone other than me. The least the dealership could do is acknowledge the fact they had scuffed the lip and perhaps work out a resolution with the customer as opposed to denying everything |
first day / fresh out the paint booth my brand new Amemiya front bumper on the fd was installed I drove over uneven road and raped the whole bottom of the lip. Shit happens dude out, of sight out of mind don't even worry about it or give yourself a headache over it.. It's a piss off but pretty much the most minor damage that could happen consider yourself lucky (in a way, lol) Posted via RS Mobile |
