In the Richmond Costco it is a fucking epidemic. It's a huge problem that slows down our line ups and makes paying members wait longer.

Funny enough, in all of western Canada, it's only the Richmond warehouse that has this issue.... I wonder why....

 | At 548 we're having the same problem. It gets annoying when those with the cash cards say they have a 99 as they hand us the cash cards.

^ In relation to the port mann bridge thread.
It amazes me how much people will inconvenience themselves to save a couple bucks. In this case, $50 for a year. Lets say these people goto Costco once a month. They save $4 but have to go thru the hastle of circumventing the system.

 | plus if you buy enough at costco worth your time standing in those lines, you get bumped to executive member, and you get a rebate end of the year based on purchase/spend that you can apply against your annual membership fee.
i don't buy that much, and my rebate covers the cost of my membership every year, and I get 2 memberships, since its shared 2 per household per membership.

Costco has to get rid of the gift card idea. The whole idea of Costco from day one was about membership.
Any of you old timers ever recall Costco (then called PriceCostco?) only allowing union members to join? I have no proof of this and canot find it anywhere, but I remember something like that. Had to be government employee, nurses and teachers' union, etc.

Then factor in the typical Richmond Asian family that comes into Costco for the free samples. Mom, dad, two kids, grandparents and the weird cousin who's just over to do school. That's a lot of people in the store, EVERY HALF HOUR.
Not sure what the entire warehouse sales were yesterday, but we did well over $100,000 in sales in just produce alone Posted via RS Mobile | | | | | 02-09-2014, 02:02 PM | #34 | | Fathered more RS members than anybody else. Who's your daddy?

 | I wAnder which location has most returns......... So many people who return things after they use it once - it has got to cost the company a lot of money. Do you guys keep track of it? Ban those who abuse the system.

Too funny about the gift card idea. It was not an issue at Langford Costco where I worked for 2 years.
Our returns desk would take anything back if the member had the balls to try to return it (within its policies of course).
Years ago we had a member buy new kayaks and rent them out and return them every year. Then buy new ones. After trying to return them the 2nd time the warehouse manager told them they will no longer accept kayak returns from them.

Cheaper in the states IF the dollar is on par, as you don't get charged tax down south. If not, it's almost the same.

 | hmm okay, thanks.
referencing my first question and wondering if the answer is the same, do they still not care that you are renewing a US costco membership in canada when all your info is canadian?
