Recomendation for a cell phone plan

I don't have any cell phone plan at the moment.
What are the good deal out there?
I know mobilicity and wind are the cheapest.

and I have looked at Koodo and Fido website
koodo has $37/month plan, with 150 MB data, 300 daytime, free after 5PM, unlmtd text.

Fido has $40/month plan with 400 MB ,plenty of daytime and text

this is sort of what I am looking at. I am just wondering if anyone has any other suggestion / or a good deal for new customer

I don't mind signing up a 2 year deal. especially if I get a phone with the plan. I am only interested in large screen phone (note 2, note 3, mega, Z ultra, nexus 5)

Thanks

post or PM me if you know a good deal plan at this time

thank you

You didn't really say what you needed in a plan. I'm on the Fido plan (when I signed up they offered 600mb). If you go over, the penalty is reasonable. Something like 5 bucks for 200mb. Depends on how much data you use.

valent|n0 03-11-2014 02:38 PM

I am looking for the best bang for the buck at $40/month including tax

so fido one is good.. but kind of stretching it for me :) *I am too cheap

makes wind mobile very enticing ....
hmm

I am hoping I can score a good deal on the phone , then I can shop for plan.

Mr.HappySilp 03-11-2014 02:41 PM

if you are cheap go with mobi is cheapest out there.

m3thods 03-11-2014 03:04 PM

If you go Wind/Mobo just check the areas you frequent the most to see if you get good cell service. There's no point paying the cheapest price if you're not getting appropriate service.

The Fido deal to me is the best bang for your buck, given service and coverage. The fact you don't have to go on a contract if you BYOD is a plus as you save 10%.

if you want to get the a good koodo plan.. there is a sweet one.. but involves a bit more work..

If you want best bang for your buck, keep an eye out for promos and take that to negotiate with other providers to match

whatever you do, better do it now.. prices are going up in about three days... for all the big three..

you've been warned

wind and mobilicity customers come in my store all the time looking to buy phones outright, but too bad theres barely any phones that work on those networks lol

option 1: buy a phone outright and sign a month to month contract (you can cancel at anytime). these rates are much cheaper as you do not get a phone with the plan.

option 2: current promotion for nexus 5 is $0 on 2 year contract with a $50 voice and data lite plan (includes 1000 anytime minutes and 500mb data + all the stuff you would get with a premium plan). I believe z ultra is eligible for this plan as well

option 3: note 3 special promotion $100 on 2 year contract with a $70 voice and data plus contract (includes unlimited talking and 500mb data, etc.)

all these plans are from Bell and all phones are unlocked. pm me for details if interested

Gucci Mane 03-12-2014 11:00 AM

^ anyone think I can force bell to give me a similar plan? I'm paying $75/mo but I don't have unlimited Canada wide..

I doubt it.. haha its a SK/MB plan... unless you live in that are...

knight604 03-12-2014 12:46 PM

You can get a fake address LOL i heard people do that.

FerrariEnzo 03-12-2014 01:33 PM

nope.. I used my BC address... I just told them that might be getting a job in SK and would like to get a SK number and have it all setup before I go there...

knight604 03-12-2014 01:34 PM

sneaky :concentrate:

Szeto 03-12-2014 02:36 PM

I think Wind & Mobilcity both have $30 unlimited Canada & data plan right now, plan also includes caller id & vm IIRC.

guurl 03-12-2014 06:42 PM

doesn't wind/mobilicity have bad networking?

mr_chin 03-12-2014 08:38 PM

Hmm, not sure if you're still reading this.

Best plan, IMO, is fido $39, 400 minutes, 400 mb. Or koodo's $42, something minutes, 500 mb.

If you're a heavy data user, today's plans are not going to serve you any good for what you pay for. They're like, what? $80 average for 3 or so gigs.

Look on CL for anyone who wants to give away their 5gb or 6gb. I found some who only had like 6 months left which I think is worth it to ride it out, considering you have your own smartphone or a device that can surf the net. When 6 month is up, negotiate a better deal, sign a 2 year and get a new smartphone. Best bet if you want 3 gig or better.

How much data do you need for an S4 type phone? I pretty much just browse and go on fb/instagram alot. And the very occasional (5 times a month maybe) youtube. I would probably disable instagram video.

Thanks!

Going to switch to koodo.

underscore 03-13-2014 01:09 AM

^ Think about how often you have wifi access as well, I was going to opt for a bigger plan initially to get more data but decided against it, good thing I did since I have wifi pretty much everywhere I go and I hardly use any data. I keep a data usage widget on my phone, I noticed that basic browsing/searching/fb hardly uses anything, streaming video is a big data killer though.

You'll need at least 3GB. I'm on 1GB and I'm occasionally going over if I go on IG or Youtube...

Go get a fido standard plan and BYOD 10% off, some great plans under 50$ all inclusive.

Price has gone up to minimum monthly service fee of $80 per month :dafaq:

Edit: amongst the Big 3

dub.g 03-14-2014 10:11 PM

ya just a quick heads up, koodo and fido has their standard plans has gone up and with less data as of 2 days ago

Update: Koodo raises prices on its Canada-wide data plans by a few bucks, lowers data allowance | MobileSyrup.com

however, koodo decided to revert back to their previous plans to snag some more customers.. this will last until monday

https://shop.koodomobile.com/plans/plans/index.html

u might as well get these now
