chromecast available in canada.

Buy on google play for under $50 shipped.
https://play.google.com/store/device...?id=chromecast

Amazon.ca is cheaper. free shipping. save $5

TOS'd 03-18-2014 06:26 PM

is there any difference between that version and this one on amazon(says US compatible)?

would like to know the same thing ^
just found out about this from my dad a few days ago. going to colorado next week and he requested me to buy this for him.
had no idea what it was til now lol interesting

would be a lot more convenient to just order online now!

Vale46Rossi 03-19-2014 02:08 AM

I ordered one! Should see how it runs against my Apple TV.

I have had many Apple TV's and would be nice to try something else!

StylinRed 03-19-2014 02:21 AM

strong new avatar duang, thanked :D

GLOW 03-19-2014 04:54 AM

They are $35 usd at best buy in the states so if you are going to Colorado you might want to try a best buy there

asian_XL 03-19-2014 04:58 AM

what's so special about chromecast?

I have Xiaomi STB 2nd, is that the same thing that you can watch pirated movies over the internet? hehe

it just turns your tv into a smart tv so for those without a smart tv/htpc etc it will be enticing to them i guess

I have a smart tv, but I like like the mirroring capabilities

bought one from the US Amazon when it wasn't available here. Mainly use it to Chromecast from my Plex server.

works well with youtube from your phone as well. i haven't tried it with netflix yet though.

vafanculo 03-19-2014 09:05 AM

I picked up mine from amazon last week. I love it. Works well with streaming videos from those piracy sites mentioned in the other thread and pornhub too lol

not sure what the difference is but I found this link to the exact same thing you posted but $9 less and free shipping from amazon

I bought mine from the states a while ago. It's kinda useless for me especially when I have an Apple TV. Streaming non-youtube video is choppy with my router and both sources within 10 feet of each other.

Psykopathik 03-31-2014 09:34 AM

Finally played around with my Chromecast.
lots of fun. I use Show box app and Avia to send the stream to my CC.

Show box (Android)is essentially popcorn time, but likely/definately pirating. do so at your own risk

Avia allows you to stream from personal server or on device media. not free but found at play store for $3

I can stream HD content flawlessly. Asus AC68U router.

i bring the CC to work sometimes to watch shows on the big tv at work. ghetto wifi but still stream 1080P video from phone.

you can also use chrome browser from your PC to stream videos without buying an app. drag and drop mk4 file in to the browser and click on the 'cast' icon.

bakasam 03-31-2014 01:19 PM

Plex & Chromecast :)

EX-R 03-31-2014 02:29 PM

just ordered mine from amazon. anyone try the roku streaming stick? seems like a lot of articles are preferring the roku over the chromecast.

did not know you could do this. Is there a way to do it with other formats like avi or mp4?

the only thing I can do with my chromecast with my computer is mirroring my chrome browser onto the TV. hoping I can find a way to play other formats as well.

wow that roku streaming stick looks sick. anyone have this or have more feedback about it? considering selling my chromecast and picking this up

vafanculo 03-31-2014 07:52 PM

Anyone have issues with theirs? Even though nothing is changed or removed, I almost always have to unplug it several times to get it to work the next day, or run through initial set up again.

nope, there's something wrong with yours. I've never had to unplug my Chromecast or reboot it. Ever.

TOS'd 03-31-2014 09:43 PM

^ Ditto, mine does disconnect from wifi on occasion, but my wireless has always had issues with all devices.

Havent used it to its full potential yet, but it keeps my parents entertained now that they can cast youtube videos of songs onto the tv.
