B18 or K20 engine swap?

Been thinking about it for awhile now, for summer I'm most likely going to do one or the other (unless life screws me over somehow).

How do you guys feel about the B18 type r engine compared to a K20.

I could sell my B16 and get some cash back too once I'm done.

I own an em1

Fafine 04-03-2014 02:09 PM

K20 if you have 15k to invest into overnight parts from Japan
otherwise B18C5

Boost the K20 :troll:

If you're lucky, another deal like this pops up: http://www.revscene.net/forums/69308...lete-swap.html

I want to keep up with a ITR or even a Type S rsx, both engines are 200HP which is an extra 40hp

The preference for N/A or boosted power is an additional consideration. The K-series is the best for either preference but it's particularly better for N/A power.

Why are you considering a $10,000 swap if your goal is to add 40hp?

Stage 2 camshafts and a tune will raise the power enough to equal a DC5-S or DC2-R.

I'm leaning towards the K20, its newer for one. Theres no space in the engine bay atm and that would fix that problem but also if I can grab one for 5k I got a friend in chilliwack that can help me out putting the engine in, just gotta buy him beer and not be in a rush. Stage 2 camshafts and all that, whats the cost going to be. Some people mentioned turbo but I'm thinking over time the engine would screw up on me or something (had a bad history with friends with turbos)

fliptuner 04-03-2014 02:47 PM

Depends on the boost/tune.

E-SPEC 04-03-2014 02:47 PM

Fuck both of those motors, cut the centre out of your hood and J32 that thing..

Fafine 04-03-2014 02:48 PM

na bra boost it and get a proper tune and you'll be fine.
250-300whp on stock internals is still safe
plus it'll be much cheaper LOL
