Bought this Clevo (rebranded as Hansung) when I was in Korea G¸¶ÄÏ - ÇѼºÄÄÇ»ÅÍ ICLUB U54F BossMonster Neo7SH£¯i7-4700M
U54F BossMonster Neo7SH
Intel® Core i7-4710MQ (2.4GHz Turbo up to 3.4GHz, 6M Cache)
8GB DDR3L 1600MHz SO-DIMM
15.6 1920X1080 FHD Non-Glare 광시야각 IPS 패널
NVIDIA GeForce GTX850M 2GB GDDR3 / HD4600
500GB SATA HDD
Upgraded it with a Samsung 840 EVO mSATA drive for Windows, and it's blazing fast. Runs everything I throw at it pretty well.
I jumped from an i5-4200U in my Acer V7 to this beastly processor and noticed a major difference in Photoshop.

Go into the Microsoft Store in Metrotown or Oakridge and check the price. The in store prices are cheaper than online. I got mine for $100 off and an additional 10% (student discount), so it ended up being around $500 tax in |

I'm looking for an ultrabook, ideally 11.6 inch but would consider 13.3 inch if it meets other criteria. Core i5 because I run photoshop once in a while. Thin and light, ideally less than $900. Having a hard time finding something I like. Any suggestions? Is my budget unrealistic?

Hey fellas,
I'm looking to upgrade my laptop after 5 years. I've set a budget of about 700- 800 bucks for a new one. I will be primarily using it for school, using programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Autocad, and Revit. What laptop would be sufficient to run these programs without too much lag or long rendering times?
Thanks in advance.

Bumping this thread. Looking for my first laptop, and need some suggestions!
From the tech community, are macbooks a rip off? Whats the reasoning behind the great debate? everywhere i look i see macbooks
I'm looking for good ultra books, mainly the Lenovo x1, macbooks, samsung ativ, etc.
Are they worth the money? I hear it is not worth investing in laptops, and a $600-800 notebook will suffice.
Open to recommendations/advice/suggestions! Thanks!

Open to recommendations/advice/suggestions! Thanks! | If you need to use specific programs that are only available on a Mac (e.g., for photo or video editing), then a Mac might be a good choice.
If you don't, then I would recommend an ultra book because it's windows-based and it will be cheaper than a Mac for the same performance. I want to stress the importance of windows because if you're in school, there are programs cannot run on Mac (e.g., I saw your SFU post..BUS237 requires the use of Visio, stats courses require some extensions on excel that Mac cannot support..etc).
If you're into gaming I would just use that $ and build a desktop instead.

Thanks for the heads up! Now, does brand matter?
For some reason I'm trying to shy away from brands like Acer, toshiba, HP.
Do certain brands wear faster than others? Are there brands noted for good quality builds? Hopefully this will be the only laptop I buy for a long time.
I'm leaning towards a zenbook if I can find a good deal on one.
And I will only be doing light gaming; built my gaming desktop and hardly have the time to play.
