Shit man, it's killing me not going out to the range. I hit up Canadian tire yesterday and bought a hard rifle case for $20. I'm thinking if work isn't busy today I'll head out. I've got a ton of 5.56 and 7.62 to blow off.

i assume fairly fun oriented. Round counts are Pistol 58, Shotgun 30, Rifle 45. No more than 3 magazines rifle or pistol and shotgun most shotshells is 12. also no black badge or holster course required.

Do you even shoot, bro?

Check out the new tannerite targets. They blow up real good, although I don't know of any range that would be cool with them.

Also, funny how a shooting thread on RS can go for weeks without an issue, but the first day someone posts a shooting thread on nsmb, people lose their shit. Those guys suck.

I went to the range by myself on Saturday and had a great day. The weather was perfect after raining all morning, and I was the only shooter on the 100 yard range for about 90 minutes. Call for a green light? Sure, I'm the RO!

Problem is, my T97 failed. The sear pin is too short, and the trigger stopped working. I was able to field strip and get it going again, but I would get an LAR mag worth of shots before it happened again.

It's back at my LGS while their gunsmiths check it out.

Nice, my PAL/RPAL took exactly 4 months to get back.

In the mean time do some research
this is a decent forum for info:
CanadianGunNutz.com

Also check out the M&P line from Smith and Wesson.

My first handgun was a 1911. Really easy to shoot, the .45 was not an issue at all. My norinco was crazy accurate for being so cheap. It'll easily out shoot my M&P9. For a first restricted, its not bad at all, its easy to shoot and simple to maintain. Not a lot of parts and you can completely take it apart and tinker with it and its a breeze to put back together.

The newer polymer guns you cant service completely on your own. The internals are just too complicated, especially within the slide itself like the striker mechanism.

I would definitely look at the M&P9 as a choice if you are considering a polymer gun. Almost half the price of both of those and just as reliable as the glock. But out of those two you listed, I'd go for the glock. Beretta doesnt fit as well into the hands (my hands. The grip is much wider/fatter) and the slide on the glock is just much smoother to work. I was also not a fan of the sights on the beretta.

But that being said, go to the store, hold both in your hands see which one is more comfortable. And maybe go to dvc and rent both and try them out.

Go on CGN.com and there are a ton of guys lusting over the 8.5" barrel AR variants, then dropping mad dime on optics so they can shoot out past 250 yards. Makes no sense to me, other than for the barbie-gun factor.

Good info there on the loss of velocity based on the barrel length. I know when I added the longer bull barrel to my 10/22, I could plink 10/10 shots at 135 yards using a 2" target. Even with shitty ammo, the rounds just go where they're supposed to.

yeah i distinctly remember when i was doing research before i bought, 16.5 seemed optimal for all around short barrel to range effectiveness ratio.

otherwise i would just get a pistol lol.

agreed man!
On that note, I was checking out a Marlin, bolt action 17WMR today. It's a mild step up from the 22LR for coyote control. I don't mind using the .22, but it has to be a perfectly placed shot for me to pull the trigger. With the .17 I could have a little wiggle room and still make it a clean kill. I don't often kill things, but when I do, it has to be quick and painless.

Does anyone know where all the CCI 22LR are? I can't find any of these wherever I go. Int'l told me they've been out for a while, and don't know when more are coming in.
