I tried giving away free stuff on CL before to folks in need but all I got were either weirdos or scumbags aiming to flip it for cash. Never again, that free section is a cesspool. |

What's with the tow hook in the front bumper? Is driving around with ones tow hook in place a thing that I should know about? Should I install my tow hook? What do I do if my car doesn't have a tow hook? I have so many questions. |
I was watching a one (clean title) that was listed for ages on CL for around $18K with reasonable km (~120K IIRC). I think most people don't know that this car exists. Lexus commands a premium, Acura RL's are rare as hen's teeth, this is a pretty reasonable alternative in the "near-luxury/almost an S-class...but not quite" segment. I don't think this one is a very good deal due to the rebuilt title, clean title ones sell for around this price. Quote:

the last time it happened and the tow hook cover went missing from the love tap was when i decided to keep on a front tow hook (license plate is in the recessed area of the bumper) not a fan that it looks a bit ricey but beats having to make a claim |
Be careful with tow hooks and accidents. They’re bolted right to the bumper frame and if someone hits it, all the energy will be transferred to the main parts of the chassis and not the energy absorbing bumper. Just food for thought. I run my tow hooks all the time |
Are tow hooks vi able? |
I wouldn’t do it out of respect for pedestrians. Not that I ever intend on hitting someone, but I certainly don’t want to make it anymore dangerous for them than it is |
I take mine off after a track day @ Mosport. There are a few people who leave them year round. To westopher's point, there was a Porsche that got into low speed incident at a parking lot hitting a pedestrian's knees, crushing it in the process. I'll let you guys use the rest of your imagination to fill in the blanks and to finish the story. |
Not to mention if it gets clipped at an angle what was supposed to be the most solid thing on the car could now have its strength compromised and you would never know. The times when you're using a tow hook at not times you want to find out it's been weakened. |
I can't count the number of FRS/BRZ rolling around richmond with Tow hooks and straps with splitter rods screwed into the grill. |
E46 ad is gone - anybody know if it sold? buddy thinks it would have been a bad buy, I think you could have driven it for 6 months and sold it for the same money no problem |
My E46 330 is at the same mileage, but I literally checked off the whole list of maintenance, preventative or not, to get it to be track ready. Aka I'm confident it won't die on me at track. I'm not one to shy away from high mileage, but it that M3 was maintained to the same degree, I would think it's a good buy. Tho there was no mention of rod bearings being done.
