if the Car has a pretty good service history prior and well looked after, then yes its worth the few extra dollars more.
the cheap cheap, neglected, buddy guy clapped out ones are the money pits.
have had 4 E30s and 5 E46's... and besides the common "maintenance" items, they were fantastic cars.

Which didn't make sense on a $10k car. | They're not "set it and forget it" vehicles. You could easily spend $10K over 5 years if you buy genuine BMW parts (instead of OEMs) and have your labour done at shops. Did you do the work yourself?
The engines, drivetrains, and electronics are generally reliable, but it's everything else that needs attention, especially since they're now 20+ years old. Recyclable plastic parts and rubber hoses don't hold up to thousands of heat cycles, so it's not surprising that basically every hose in the engine bay needs to be replaced at this point. Suspensions at this age need to be overhauled as well. But, the car is well-documented and the parts network is very strong. Anyone who is willing to turn a wrench can service and maintain these cars. Just avoid the pre-2001, manual cars as their rear floors by the subframe are prone to cracking.

Will take one of those ZHP cabs over any new BMW drop top in a heartbeat.
One of the guys that was on the board here had an Imola red manual cab…. Still such a pretty car today.
330ci cab as a street car is a better drive than the M3 cab imo

But as Tofu mentioned, prev owner is a buddyguy. In general, the E46 is a 10K (USD) car, in both purchase price and maint, so use that ratio accordingly. Quote:

I don't find that with Japanese cars like the Type R.

I had a chance to buy a 6-spd 330ci vert w the full load in individual estoril blue once. Car came w the matching hardtop too.
I still think about that car - just have to remind myself that I'm not really a drop top guy. Vacations only.

Interesting Build if you follow VW ... 2011 VW GTD, 86K kms, really low mileage, tuned to 235 hp with new turbo. Some GTI/R, APR, Malone bits here and there. We don't get these in NA so it is kinda unique. I think guy did it right and a one of a kind car here in YVR. Got the TDI engine high torque but diesel is dying out, I think. $21K https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...5725670875075/ |

nice build. takes a certain buyer to do that - you couldn't build it for less
my buddy has a very rare 2 door Mk6 tdi for sale (usa only, imported to do this swap) if you wanted to build a truer GTD clone.
just about to wrap up my winter season w my Mk6. It remains one of the best cars I've ever owned. For the second year in a row I find myself searching for a stash spot instead of selling on my winter beater.

Too much reliability in the last few posts..
Spring has sprung so staying on the theme of convertibles. Low km (125,000 km) Boxster in Guards red for Miata money. Looks like it has a few warts and probably a few "stories." Why waste your time motoring around in your SC430 that actually runs, when you can be in your garage/driveway wrenching on the Boxster you now wish you hadn't bought. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...type=top_picks

^ cheaper on fuel cuz of better efficiency . rated at 6l/100kms ?? That's the only reason ... and a lot of giddyup on the torque? It's a niche thing.

Super clean | Yes this is my vehicle. To spare everyone a long story, here are some more details beyond what's shared in the ad: - the original owner was an older Asian lady who sold the car when she left the country. As a RevScene bonus I can throw in the 70s/80s Chinese music CD that came with the car when I bought it
   - the vehicle's been paint-corrected and had its full front PPF'd at RDI Detailing under my ownership
  - all maintenance services were done at the dealer to keep its service history consistent with the previous owner and traceable at one location
  - I am the only driver of the vehicle under my ownership and it's just me in the car 99.5% of the time
  - I don't eat inside my vehicle, smoke, or have kids, so the interior still smells new
  - I have an EV as a daily so this car only comes out on occasion
  - Selling because I might be relocating and want to reduce my footprint here in preparation

I would love to sell the car to a new owner here that will continue to take good care of it. Please PM me here if you're interested and I can share more information on the car in greater detail and maybe work out a deal.
