^ Private Banking client identified.
Otherwise it would've been more like "check nothing, because I'm still sitting in traffic driving to the bank branch, in order to stand in line to initiate the wire.
Subsequently, waiting days to weeks for the wire to go through.
And who knows if I manually wrote a wrong detail into the hand-written form."

Is this your old car?
Damn, that's quite a premium, but it's in great shape.

You could buy it for a re-do on your old days, but better.
I've always wanted another AW11 but this time with the supercharger, and not rusted to heck.

I kinda want, but then i remember just how bad the interior build quality is (squeaked and rattled from day 1) and the lust fades.

Was it cuz you got the poverty spec? Higher trim might be better with more leather? Just take it apart and dynamat, insulation foam it.

yeah i had the absolute poverty spec but the interior looked exactly the same as this CTS-V top trim.
Back in those days they didnt have screens and crap, so there wasnt a huge delta between base model and top trim.

Genuine question for those who have experience buying used from private sale,
I have been looking on fb marketplace for a while now, saw 3 good examples of accord, camry and buick allure from the 2003 - 2009 era, all low mileage ranging from 120k to 180k km, all look well taken of with the pictures and the descriptions, all sold within 24 hours. all 3 listings were reasonably priced at $4500 - 5000
Are these buyers very mechanically experienced and just inspecting the cars on the spot and buying it right away?
Even if I am able to message the seller 1st, are there mechanic shops that allow me to schedule a same day inspection? I thought that's unreasonable no?
so for example: if I message a buyer today a few hours after the listing is posted, I schedule a test drive and viewing tomorrow. If I call the mechanic shop tomorrow, will they be able to fit me for an inspection tomorrow?

2000s accord camry for that price, as you have been finding, will go pending quite fast
there are mobile ppi you can get, but at this budget it's more likely the inspection is elective
skim through this video, wouldnt mean ppi is no longer necessary but you would start to have a better idea what you should walk away from, or what you should put a deposit down for https://youtu.be/PAxh4gqwHbY?si=5pWkMGj8dApc_fvv |

Most people that are spending 5k on a car, are not taking it to a shop for inspection.
Source: sold 30 cars, most of which in the 2-8k range, i have only had 1 car ever taken for inspection, a 10k z4
Furthermore, if i was selling a car, and two people messaged me, i would ignore the one that says "can i take it for an inspection", because the other buyer will probably take it as is. With that said, if you view the car first, then ask for inspection, you can read by how the seller responds.
As for shops willing to inspect next day.... If you make enough phone calls, someone will say yes

You are spending $200 to inspect a $5000 car? $5000 cars are the bottom of the barrel these days, especially if you want something in high demand like Accord and Camry, at $5000 these are throw away cars.
And donk makes sense, would you waste your time as a seller to take it to a shop, if there's someone willing to take it cash on the spot? I've only had one buyer take a car I sold in the last few years to a shop for their mechanic friend to look at it only for them to ghost me afterwards, so as a seller if it's a cheap car it's totally a waste of their time and gas $. And they assume you will low-ball them after too with an inspection.

On Camry, what would a PPI tell you? It won't find a suspension or starter that's on its last legs... it could start leaking tomorrow.
Sometimes stuff just goes bad, my friend bought Sam's TL and even with major services and clean PPI, AC went out a year or so later and it burnt an exhaust valve.
Honda/Acura is both easier and more difficult.
While the VIN tag helps spot accident damage, the auto trans fluid/filter and timing belt service is rarely documented.

You prob know but BCAA provides mobile vehicle inspection - https://www.bcaa.com/automotive/bcaa...le-inspections
But for $250 on a $5000 car, it's up to you. Most people just bring the most mechanically inclined friend for a 2nd pair of eyes, to look over a car like that.
If it is nearby and convenient for them, I'm sure many on here, might be that 2nd pair of eyes for you ... for a 6 pack.

If I'm selling a $5k car I'm ignoring the buyer who asks for an inspection... I try to be honest and upfront about issues but the second someone says they're doing an inspection on a $5k car I know they're going to be one of these pricks who thinks a 20 year old car should be brand new and try to find any angle possible to take more $ off the price and waste my time.
I'd only consider it if I had no bites at all and even then I'd be loathe to do so.

I hated the reverse baseball cap look when it came out. It's still dumb and imo is the anti mini. The whole ethos of a Mini was space efficiency. This is not it.
