You just have to be smart about using your phone and use common sense.

I was at a red light and had my phone on my lap; I was using one hand. A car right turned on to the oncoming lane and stopped a bit after passing me. I sensed it and looked back and it was a cop car. She saw me and I immediately put it away and she gave me the disapproval headshake and then I did a sorry hand wave and then I left. If there was any "safer way" of using my phone, I was doing it; I was able to sense her, was using one hand, checking my surroundings, and using at a red light.

Everyone's driving skills are different and my cell phone use + driving is definitely less of a risk compared to some law abiding drivers while at the same time riskier than some others.

There was a time when cell phones use wasnt illegal and I had no problems then and I have no problems now. I don't see it much different from going 10 over the limit.

Or people could just learn to fucking drive. Eventually people will get dependant on these bullshit systems and as soon as they're in a car without them (or if the system malfunctions) they'll crash.

If your sentence structure is indicative of your ability to text and drive, it won't be long before you learn your lesson.
