Someone above said it, get a BRZ/FRS and spend the difference in money getting it to where you want it to be.

Then again I don't know how much you want to mod it. And I know you said factory boost, but just giving you the route I would go as it gives you so much $$ to play with.

i work at a delaership and to this day i dont understand why people want a brand new car. warranty has its benefits but it also has its disadvantages.

the depreciation of vehicles are enough for me to stay away from anything new within 3 years

i know the idea of a v8 is nice but there are v6 and turbo 4cyl that can put out more power

you can make anything handle good with a good tire, and suspension setup

and km's dont mater ive seen cars with 100k on them running better than new cars off the lot and im not even exaggerating about that

im with the guys above. get something you would notice while you were walking thru a parking lot.. something that speaks to you. with all that money you saves u can make it fast, reliable and handle good and probably not have it depreciate as much as something new.

i personally wouldnt want a car that just anyone could buy out of a showroom.. thats my opinion though

Honestly, it sounds like your mind is already made up. You're just looking for a push in that direction lol

You want a V8 I can tell, and you obviously still have a 'stang boner. Nothing wrong with either of those things. Embrace it, and move on.

Why not a GT500 then? A very quick search found these examples:

Fuck yeah GT500, and it's sexalicious black!

Holy ballsack, this fucker is white!

I've driven a 3.8 genesis coupe, but it has the same problem as my 3.7, gobs of power but such a boring motor, that's why i want V8 because V8 or factory boost!

2015 STI

Possibly. A bit above my budget (would be ~43-44) out the door, but defs an option! AWD with the DCCD would certainly be EPIC!
the new wrx is a nice car as well... direct injection

stupid thing is the new sti doesnt have direction injection...

Some awesome suggestions so far, thanks guys! Couple things...

Golf GTI, FWD+200hp, no thanks.

2003 911's, e39 m5's etc etc would be EPIC weekend cars, but as a daily not really a good idea in my opinion.

Perhaps you're right though, i might be looking for a push in the stang direction... I guess i want to make sure i'm making the right choice... Not buy one and have someone mention a month later some epic car that i never thought about.

As for the STI, the one i'd buy (sport package) is like 45k+ taxes etc... Bit out of the price range.

I'd seriously consider a 2015 WRX but the lack of limited slips (read: one front and one rear wheels spinning...) turns me off from that...

after reading your posts.. why do yo need something so powerful and good at handling if you just want a stock car out of a lot.. doesnt sound like you will be racing it.. u cant test out the hp or the limited slip to its full potential on the street.. and as goes for the subaru thing.. if you are going fast enough to have wheels spinning your biggest issue will be understeer.. they are fcking awful for understeer

I doubt I'd notice the lack of fancy diffs on the WRX, it sounds like a very potent car from all the reviews with the stock sound system and the shifter feel being the main complaints I've heard (both relatively easy fixes)

I haven't driven the new 2 series yet but I have an F30 328xi at home and that 4 banger feels fast even in the bigger heavier sedan, I get some kickass fuel economy in it too. With a smaller body and a manual gearbox it would seem like a pretty fun car. M sport line on that car is pretty sexy IMO.

I've driven a "new" 118 in hk and power was adequate considering the engine specs lol

Back on topic tho, why not a Boss 302? I've had some experience with mustangs across nearly every generation and never really liked any of them until I got behind the wheel of a 302

I don't "need" something powerful and good handling, hell, i don't even "need" a car. I could buy a prius and it would get me to point a from point b, as could you.

I want all the power and handling and lsd's etc because i damn well enjoy the power/handling/traction of a well sorted car.

I'm with Snails. I don't follow your logic at all. The performance of a GT500/Z06/Viper is great for weekend driving through the mountains but extraneous and not really enjoyable for weekday driving from red light to red light, which basically degrades the difference between one of them and your current car to a badge.....

I would keep your current car and buy a track car or a bike for the weekend, but that's just my opinion.

If you don't need the utility of a hatchback, I'd seriously consider a new WRX. As others have mentioned, the STI is a bit overkill if you'll never be tracking it.

The manual requirement would really limit your potential car.

Modern auto (AMGs) or sequential boxes (any DCT variance) are very close or even better than what a normal human can do in stick (assuming you are not some pro F1 driver). Fun-wise... maybe it's not as inspiring on the track, but as a DD that goes from red to red, you'd appreciate the convenience of it.

I'd look into AMGs if you want the V8. If manual is absolute must, CTS-V gets my vote too.

Buy my STI y0! haha, j/k. sort of.

The FRS/BRZ option is good since it's priced right, you get a new car with warranty and maybe some cheddar left over for modding. The lack of power off the lot is really the only downside. A few track days will tell you that momentum cars are so much fun to drive as they can be forgiving and you can drive them at their limit with more comfort(driving skill dependant though) so personally I wouldn't look at that as a strike. Plus, you should be able to boost that bitch and still be in for less than a new base STI.

Why not a new FJ or Tacoma? Amazing residual value, reliable, fun(subjective I suppose), warranty, convenient, etc. Those are really the only 2 brand new vehicles that I would ever buy and I don't even like the FJ at all. The Taco is a dream machine for me so I'm a bit biased.

I wouldn't rule out the pre-owned market though. There are plenty of pre-owned vehicles that have great value, are reliable so warranty is a non-issue, and have already taken that big depreciation hit by someone else.

since you drive ~30k a year, i would buy a solid dd car thats fun and good on gas and buy a 2nd luxury/sport car such as e46 m3 or e39 m5 ~$25 can get you a super clean one and at the end you still have extra crash for tasteful upgrades or anything that goes wrong

Lol because buying a pickup truck and never using it as a truck is just stupid, and if i was going to buy an FJ i'd just get a Jeep.

ANYWAYS, thanks for all the suggestions... But the people saying not to buy something with LSD's, tons of power etc, seriously? Why don't we all buy base Corolla's and Priuses (Prii?) by that logic...?

I don't want to keep my car for the reasons i've already mentioned. I really miss driving a manual, that's reason #1. I don't care if some DCT can shift way faster than i ever can, at that point it's just an automatic that shifts quickly. Yes i know paddles and blah blah blah, i want a manual for the driving pleasure.

On the RHD subject, i'm planning on keeping it for around 5 years, and 125,000-150,000km's. Just not interested in driving that far on the wrong side... As for something like an ITR, i'm sure they're great, but basically opposite of what i'm looking for...

Perhaps i will just get the Mustang GT? Perhaps as i do more diligence the STI will become the other option, as of today i don't know. That's why i'm not running out and buying something, i want to make sure what i buy is perfect for me so i don't flip flop cars every year.

I seriously LOVE the idea of such an advanced AWD system with the DCCD in the STI, but i'm so not a fan of the styling... If they made a hatchback, it would probably work for me.
