with that said.. anyone else signed up for the sept 8 TSSxFFD track day at The Ridge? Still a number of spots left. A lot of people originally indicated they'd go but havent paid even after it was announced that deposits were being accepted... I think people did that to add to their online credibility that they track their car.. :

and before anyone adds, here are the standard excuses for people who say they'll go then dont:

"cant get a day off" (date was announced a month ago)
"need to install XXX" (date was announced a month ago)
"i cant win" (true story... and huh?)

miss a few autox days due to myself being away and now that i'm back i am itching to get back into the last few events.

sucks for me that i'm an independent contractor and all of my big pay day jobs are on the weekends….

work + subsequent income from work has a higher priority than a track day IMHO. lol

in any case, for track days there's actually quite a bit on weekdays =)

^^ This.

Mission is no PR or Ridge, but for the exact reasons that slowguy has cited, it is still a great track in its own ways. Especially for car shakedown, there is a bit of everything in the mix -- decent length sweepers in T2 and T3, set of linked turns in T4 - T6. Chicane / off-set gate type of turn at T7, and the increasing radius turn out of T8 / T9. The only thing that I am not a fan of are the concrete walls...

hence my low attendance at HPDE events

my original plan of attack is to attend at least a dozen session of autox, really master the handling of the car before getting my feet wet at track days (not the mention track day is more $$$) wish clubs could host more weekday autox events...

Has anybody been to Oregon Raceway Park? How is it? Looks like it's a brand new or recently renovated facility and it's only an hour further away from me than The Ridge.

i personally prefer ORP over ridge. just that ridge is closer for me.. by about.. 3 hrs or so. :

the ridge complex has nothing on the half pipe @ ORP IMO.

My goal was to hit all 4 of the closest tracks this year but unfortunately the car trouble got in the way of that. Financially I just couldn't do a big trip to orp. Can't wait to head out there next year.

ORP looks awesome!! dying to try it and The Ridge. Becoming a parent last month and smashing up the ITR didn't really help my chances for tracking this year. LOL!

Next year though, I should be ready to hit up PR, Ridge and ORP. Road trips FTW!!

What if I told you there's a 2 for deal at ORP coming up in a month and a half? You and dared3vil0 sign up together and come tear shit up (with no worries about hitting anything)
