Unfortunately, my wallet has been seeing some serious hurt all year long thus far. Time is also not on my side, as my week nights and weekends are getting eat up by responsibilities that I didn't have before, so I won't be able to join you for this one.

Sigh... hopefully next year... :okay:

Pretty much this lol. I've burned through way too much money this spring/summer modding the car and tracking it. Next season for me.

Saw that the TSS x FFD was an invite only event (wouldn't have been able to make it anyways since I work that day) so signed up for VCMC then kchan posts it "public" in this thread... :alone:

Fuck I forgot about the roll bar. It's a necessity as soon as I lose the stock seats too. Maximum Motorsports sells a really nice one for like 800USD... After exchange and powdercoating that's two grand. Fuck. I wonder if someone local would fabricate one for cheaper... Paging speed syndicate LOL.

Unless you are planning to run a race harness, I wouldn't say roll bar is a necessity. There are still quite a few people running aggressive sport / race seats in conjunction with their factory 3 point belts.

What becomes a necessity is, the moment you choose to run a race harness, you'd also 100% need to get yourself a HANS or similar device, and that is $$$$. Basilar skull fracture is not something you'd ever want to personally experience.

Locally, I know for a fact that Shift Autosport does custom roll bar / cage fabrication. But in the summer months at least, they are generally a very busy shop. I've had a person contact them regarding a custom roll bar fabrication for his car back in May (I think?), and at the time, Shift says their backlog for this type of work was almost 2 months. So if it is something you are planning to do, plan it early.

Alternatively, I also know for a fact that Brown Bros Ford did a complete custom race prep work for a B-spec car some time ago (2 years ago, maybe?). Granted, I don't know if any special relationships with the dealership are needed to get that kind of a ball rolling, but it is something they have done before, and the result outcome was nothing short of fantastic. So that is another venue you could explore.

Good info, thanks!

Saw you a couple of times at Mission, how were your times there?

Thanks! :)

What were you driving?

At Mission I averaged around a 1:26 with brakes that were fucked (one event too many...)

I think with fresh brakes I would of been able to do a 1:20.

At ORP I averaged around a 2:10, with a best of a 2:08.

qwerty66 08-21-2015 08:46 PM

I drive a FRS
Yea mission destroys brakes pretty quickly
Hopefully you can some killer brakes and get down to 1:20!

Next season though, i'm calling it on this season after that ORP day. Out of brakes and tires are horribly cupped. Stockers back on for winter hella early. :(

In this case, higher performance (and lower treadwear rating) tires would actually give you better wear characteristics. But even then, you still gotta pick and choose the right tire for the right application. For lapping (with 200TW tires), I'd recommend BFG Rival (not Rival S), Dunlop Z2 Star Specs, Hankook RS-3 v2, and maybe Yokohama AD08R.

I'm going to make the jump to r comps for next season, specifically the Nitto NT01. They will be put on at the track, and taken off before the drive home. Size will be 305/35/18 square.

Traum 08-21-2015 09:28 PM

NT01 is a fantastic tire, but I'm too much of a lazya$$ to do the right thing and use the proper tires for the proper job. :lol

Skinny all seasons grand touring tires FTW~

duy- 08-22-2015 08:40 PM

this thread makes me anxious to get back, season ended early for me this year
:okay:

we did however get to do a fun track day where we filled up an entire heat with friends, I would have had fun if we all came with stock engines and ran 1:35 all day

mb_ 09-04-2015 08:37 PM

Tons of fun times at Pacific Raceways today. Thanks Traum for instructing me

Dat turn 1 entry speed :ahwow:

SumAznGuy 09-04-2015 09:11 PM

My first time out at PR and first trackday in the Poopsicle Civic.
Holy fack. 5th gear WOT going through T1. Hitting 7000 rpms in 5th gear before braking for Turn 2.

mb_ 09-04-2015 09:13 PM

Which Civic were you in?!?! Totally forgot you were there :ahwow:

SumAznGuy 09-04-2015 09:15 PM

I was in the orange EG with 13 inch wheels.

mb_ 09-04-2015 09:18 PM

So you were the guy that was blowing blue smoke at everyone!!! :lawl:

I also saw what you did in the last session... :troll:

SumAznGuy 09-04-2015 09:22 PM

Sorry. Yeah, motor burns through quite a bit of oil. I can't last a full 25 minute session.
I was running 20 minutes and would use up 1L of oil.
3 sessions and I was down to 1/4 of gas so I think at high RPMS and WOT, the car is running very rich.

I got over confident and tried to take 3a faster and ended up on the rumble strip. Oops.

mb_ 09-04-2015 09:55 PM

Lol I was coming out of turn 3a and I was just like "Oh hey there's dirt everywhere"

Dashcam was recording too... :troll:

Nice driving though!

Had a great time yesterday at Pacific Raceway. My car had a great shake down day and didn't gave me any problems.

Had a chance to try my friend's NB

I really need to get a rear wing after tying his car LOL.

mb_ 09-05-2015 12:40 PM

Here's one of my sessions :concentrate:
