so with the lain for acton deal, the comets also picked up mitch holmberg. holmberg had 62 goals in the whl last year, and is currently on a 1year ahl deal. with acton becoming a free agent at years end, while lain would still be an rfa, it looks like it might have been used as a way to free up another contract for holmberg at seasons end

Holmberg is terrible. He would fit in perfectly with the Oilers. Plays no defense, pompous attitude.

Last game I saw him play (Royals vs. Chiefs in the first round), he was completely invisible. Kept cheating out of the zone, looking for stretch passes for breakaways. At the beginning of every period, the trainer high-fived every Chief as they stepped onto the ice ... except Holmberg. Never saw anyone speak to him on the bench, either (I was sitting front row behind the Chiefs' bench).

Holmberg has been a healthy scratch most of the year in the ECHL and only has 1 assist in 8 games. Wouldn't touch the guy with a 10' pole. Everything I've heard and seen makes me believe he's a cancer.

yea, but benning was interested in seeing his game more, he will get the chance with him in the echl i guess. hes also been on the ir, so im guessing battling injuries is reason for only 8 games.. maybe benning thinks we need an eberle type prospect :whistle:

He broke his finger on November 5 and was placed on IR a few days ago. He's likely to be back sometime in mid-December.
