Wow.....that's another thing I hate about some recreational fishers. So many have no idea about the regulstions for certain areas that it makes me sick. When I inform them if I see then doing something wrong, I always let them know the rules and regulations about the area. You'd be surprised how many people just flip you off or pretend they don't speak English(I'm Asian BTW). That's when I call the rapp line and hopefully someone comes out to do something about it.
The size requirement is 165cm for crab. Females and anything under has to be released. Females don't grow past 165cm so Its pretty obvious Gululu is a poacher.
always love to go carp fishing. we are doing Canada a great favour since carp fishes are invasive species. no problem, leave it to us.
I fish for invasive species all the time (bass and black crappie) and they all have limits. You may want to look into that next time you're out fishing.
could start out at sasamat lake casting from the dock. nice and easy beginner spot.
was up at sayres lake this weekend...not a single bite
heading up to gypsum lake with my dad in a few weeks...hopefully it'll be better there.
anyone fly fish??? i've been wanting to learn but nobody i know does it lol
I used to fly fish with my dad but he passed away and I've never gone since but I'd like to take it up again. To me, it was a lot more fun then just sitting in a rowboat dragging out a line.
I'm not a skilled fisherman. Never been salmon or lake fishing. I just go off the docks in north/west van and areas of Richmond for dogfish and sturgeon. Catch and release, just to waste time really. Been a while too.
spring & autumn is best for rice, if the weather is too hot the fish aren't active. if you do go in the summer, early mornings first light and late evenings are best during the day you may as well leave and go shopping and have lunch and come back.
Haney wharf when salmon are in is a great place to bring the kid while dad is catching salmon, the lil ones can cast off the side and catch whitefish
Spoiler!
wild coho at davidson pool
chum at the toilet bowl which i only kept for the roe, some lucky guy got the carcass and was happy about it
As a commercial crabber it disgusts me the amount of people that either "don't know" or don't follow the regulations. If you don't know here are the 4 basic rules YOU MUST follow for crab fishing.
1) You must obtain and carry a valid B.C. Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence.
2) Only 2 traps are allowed per licence per person.
3) Females and undersized crab must be released IMMEDIATELY and carefully.
4) A maximum of 4 legal size (keepers) can be kept per licence per person.
I find people disregard number 4 far too often. Anything over 4 crab per licence is considered ILLEGAL.
Also always write your name and a telephone number on your floats and buoys. This will make it easier for us or the authorities to return your lost or tangled equipment.
