Auto wrecker to possibly buy my car?

Hey RS I need your help please.
I rearended someone today and car will be a write off. Unfortunately due to ill be honest, financial reasons, I had removed collision on insurance. Needless to say icbc informed me they won't pay out vehicle and ill be on the hook for towing and I guess storage fees.
They suggested finding a wrecker to buy my car so I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations to help me out with this.

Tia :)

Ps sorry for anyone I tied up on 33rd this morning; my car wasn't driveable to move off to the side. So I had to be the asshole as some people called me... No nabs not only you :p

Just an idea but have you thought about posting your car up for sale on the board or CL? Perhaps someone could use your car as a parts car or what not.

Anyways, sorry to hear about your loss and hope that all works out well for you.

saucywoman 09-07-2014 08:31 PM

Adrnln rush that could be a good idea however it just happened today and is at the towing company. I don't wish to rack up substantial store fees, as it is being unemployed this is not someone I want to incur already :/ lol

Get a u-haul trailer and tow it to your place. Its about $80 from the north van location. That'll buy you some time. Unless you've made up your mind to getting it junked.

Better yet, there may be board members here who own a truck and trailer that could help you.

Sorry, I have not a truck nor trailer to help but just wanted to help brainstorm ideas.

Won't they just tow it away since I'd have to leave it on the street and its a main thoroughfare lol
Plus then I'm out $80 for that, $80 for tow and what they charge for storage. :( lol

That would imply that she has a tow vehicle and a place to store it.

How bad is the damage? Pics?

If it's bad enough that you're 100% sure it's a writeoff, I'd ask the tow yard if they want to buy it or contact a scrap car guy and get him to buy it asap. The longer it stays in the yard, the more it's going to cost.

Ice both airbags deployed, cracking windshield, and the lady police officer said the front of my car was touching the drivers tire. I didn't see any brake lights on and cars were moving up ahead so I hit him full on no brakes.. Vaguely remember my car for some reason hitting twice

fliptuner 09-07-2014 10:25 PM

IF you had a place to store/part it and you wanted to recoup as much money out of it as possible AND had the time and patience to deal with CL people, get it out and list it asap.

Otherwise, cut your losses, sell it to a scrap guy and put it behind you.

Here's the list of parts for sale to give you an idea and help your decision:
vancouver, BC auto parts - by owner "accent" - craigslist

what car was it? ^ I assume hyundai accent?

saucywoman 09-07-2014 10:29 PM

Well unemployment affords me time when I'm not job searching but I can't store it and will not have a vehicle to drive so possibly the most cost effective thing for me right now is try and find wrecker who will buy :(

You better deal with the tow company fast as not only do you have to pay for the tow to the tow company's yard and the storage fees, you'll have to pay for it to be taken out whether you rent a trailer and borrow a truck or have them towed to wherever you live or going to store it.

saucywoman 09-09-2014 06:30 AM

I spoke with them yesterday and if I pay the tow and storage fees they'll take care of disposing of the car for me. Going that route as its the easiest

Call up a scrap car recycler since they'll probably pay enough to cover towing and storage.

Brad Fuel 09-10-2014 05:03 PM

Scrap yards have their own tow trucks. So it's not like you'll be paying to deliver it to the yard. Take the time tomorrow to make some phone calls and see who's willing to pay you for it. It will probably go for $200... Better than paying the tow company. If you can't find a scrap yard buyer by end of tomorrow I would just let the Tow company have it.

Unfortunately I have to wait til Friday before I can get to rbc to pay my loan off, and unless a teller there can do a letter for me saying my car is titled to me and free of liens, it's going to be 7-10 days before I get that letter :(

But I will be checking with a wrecker. Brand new all seasons were put on in July, so used those would sell for $200.

thumper 09-11-2014 08:23 AM

i don't know if this thread here would apply to you or not:

http://www.revscene.net/forums/69784...-car-cash.html

from what is being said, just the catalytic converter alone could be worth a lot of $$$.
