Their lamea$$ radio ad song is playing in my head the moment I saw this thread. LOL~

But honestly, my family and friends have been getting nothing but good experience from their service. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

personally i think "monitoring" is a waste of money

recently our construction sites have switched over to strictly cameras/microphones instead of security guards for the cost savings

Even with strict motion sensing, good night vision, and cameras all over the site, for the 5-6 times we've had break ins/theft, not once have the people involved been apprehended by police. This is from a response that is almost instant, as soon as a motion sensor is triggered a guy monitoring the cameras phones the police, then updates them live on the targets movement/actions. These cops are typically under 6 minutes reponse time and like i said, not once have they caught anyone, even with the use of the K9 unit.

I'd probably just get a reputable alarm company to install a system, screw the monitoring, then setup a few cameras facing various directions around the house and run the computer in the attic or something where it's not accessible.

speaking of alarm, does any service exist where they will monitor CCTV feeds and if there is a "suspicious activity" happening, they will send out a patrol unit asap?

The complex I live at (in surrey) has been getting cars broken into broad daylight, like 1pm on a sunny saturday afternoon. 2-3 cars were hit past saturday.

^ You may as well pay to have a static guard on site if you're going to pay someone 24/7 to stare at a screen.

Remote video is normally alarm activated. As Hondaracer said, motion trips, operators bring up the camera feed and check for suspicious activity. That works for construction sites because they're usually fenced in and companies only monitor after the site has closed for the evening. An open complex with regular vehicle/foot traffic wouldn't work that way..

Home security monitoring is a waste of money imo. Set up an alarm system and you're good. I've set up a dummy surveillance camera in my backyard and it seems to be working as far as I can tell, since I haven't had a break in yet. It just sweeps left to right and has a bright red blinking light. I assume most people see it and just back off lol

Do you really need anything other than this?
I also bought a couple of fake LED surveillance camera's. Put two in the back, one in the front, one on each side of the house and two near the garage. Looks pretty legit.

Friends told me my house looks heaty with the camera's though.

you have the Wrong Company doing the job. i design those Remote Guarding applications for a living. i take pride in our apprehension rate. car dealerships and construction sites mostly. we have a 90%+ apprehension rate, which is WAY better than a Guard (around 22%) and just static cameras (1% or less)

I installed a DSC alarm panel for my own house.

Basically, I had an old Birks alarm panel that couldn't be reprogrammed unless I paid their monthly fee. I didn't want to do that, so I installed my own.

I think the panel + sensors was around $200. I bought from Amazon. You can still set it up so that if the alarm goes off, it calls your phone/wife/ whatever; you need a dedicated land or cell line though.

No lol but seriously, dummy cameras get the job done if you need a cheap quick fix.
