The DM-V2 are also loud. Tread hum is very pronounced compared to the Pirelli All Seasons on the X5.

The #2 tire store (after Costco) in Toronto even thinks the DM-V2 is too aggressive and wears too quickly in their temps/use cases.
They generally recommend VikingContact 7

You can skip the Bridgestone LM005 too, wears out in under 20k kms.

Brand new 235/55R19 Continental Viking Contact 8 (that's right, v8 is out) for $915 tax in + $160 m&b (call it $1100)
Brand new 255/50R19 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 (old tire at this point, released in like 2016?) at Costco $1300 tax in everything included. ($1300). | I went through this exercise last year and ended up with the X-Ice Snows, which I've used before and like how they perform.
When I was getting the tires mounted, the tire shop mentioned how the Viking Contact 7s are not really designed for our slushy winter seasons and more suited for the Alberta/Ontario types of winter. Not sure how the 8s are, but may warrant some extra research.
Besides tread wear, do you know how new the tires are?

Well, the VC8 was released this year in North America, last year in Europe. So they are basically brand spanking new. X-Ice Snows are from the 2021/2022 winter in terms of release date iirc.
DM-V2s are from the mid 2010s so honestly they're out of the running for me. A lot of innovation has happened for winter tire tech in the past decade.
I currently run X-Ice Snows on my Audi, and I do like them for winter duties. Both the X-Ice Snow and the VC8 fall under the "Nordic" winter tire category, so they are similar.

EDIT: Also my IPP pricing is cheaper than anything else I can find new except Rovelos and even then the difference is like $15 between no name, and the VC8.

Bruh, how are you guys paying almost 3k for a set of snows is beyond me.
Set of 18's:
General Artic Max shipped after rebates and taxes, $750
Steeliess from CL, $150 or buy some from junk yard off a OEM car.
Nuts, $50 or reuse the same ones...
Mount, $100 cash
FB is filled with used wheels that will mount snows just fine. They're gonna get trashed anyways and I bet used OEM takeoffs are way better quality than FAST wheels. This is for an 18 and look a bit trashed, but you get the idea. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...9-0f7faa603fd5

If your car comes with 19's, you can for sure run something smaller unless you're driving a GTR or something with huge brakes. It's pretty damn common to size down one size to say an 18.
That drives your cost down and opens up a lot of options. Do a little research, you can find wheels hella cheap.
Even if you go new, a brand spanking new steelie is like 100 bucks. Less than half of your fast wheels you're going to use for 3 months a year and will get eaten by salt.
I just hit my steelies with some black spray paint and count the 1k I saved.

Free shipping | Is this for a Tesla? There might be some one who can help you.
1200 for new Xice snow sounds like a no brainer. You can probably find cheaper used wheels.

It's for a Ioniq 5.

Sorry I'm loyal to Michelin X-Ice | Ugh, steelies suck! I'd go down to a 18" and find something used on FB. If you go new for the wheels the Fast ones (like the one you picked) are good wheels - very light for one thing. I run the FC04 in bronze in the winter.

Man those Fast wheels are nice - flow formed!
But.. have you seen this used set that someone got from Costco?
Haggle them down $33 and the tires are "free" compared to your set.
Comparing the EU Tire labels:
- Pirelli has MUCH better wet grip: B rating vs D rating
- Pirelli is worse on ice, doesn't have the EU ice grip marker
- Pirelli is louder: 72db instead of 69 Quote:
Full winter tire & rim set with OEM TPMS for 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Pirelli Scorpion Winter 235/55R19, paid $1499.96 + $180 taxes = $1680
C-Wheels Atlas Rims 19" black satin finish, paid $799.96 + $95.99 taxes = $896
Hyundai OEM TPMS bluetooth Q5H40AK000-I Current MSRP $163.70 (not aftermarket) = $183
Purchased in September 2023 from Costco. Used for barely 2 winter seasons of local driving only; not even a total of 6 months of use (December 2023 to mid-February 2024; December 2024 to mid-February 2025).
Lots of tread on all 4 tires. The set was in dry storage for the rest of the year. No rash - scratches - damage on rims.
