The DM-V2 are also loud. Tread hum is very pronounced compared to the Pirelli All Seasons on the X5.

The #2 tire store (after Costco) in Toronto even thinks the DM-V2 is too aggressive and wears too quickly in their temps/use cases.
They generally recommend VikingContact 7

You can skip the Bridgestone LM005 too, wears out in under 20k kms.

Brand new 235/55R19 Continental Viking Contact 8 (that's right, v8 is out) for $915 tax in + $160 m&b (call it $1100)
Brand new 255/50R19 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 (old tire at this point, released in like 2016?) at Costco $1300 tax in everything included. ($1300). | I went through this exercise last year and ended up with the X-Ice Snows, which I've used before and like how they perform.
When I was getting the tires mounted, the tire shop mentioned how the Viking Contact 7s are not really designed for our slushy winter seasons and more suited for the Alberta/Ontario types of winter. Not sure how the 8s are, but may warrant some extra research.
Besides tread wear, do you know how new the tires are?

Well, the VC8 was released this year in North America, last year in Europe. So they are basically brand spanking new. X-Ice Snows are from the 2021/2022 winter in terms of release date iirc.
DM-V2s are from the mid 2010s so honestly they're out of the running for me. A lot of innovation has happened for winter tire tech in the past decade.
I currently run X-Ice Snows on my Audi, and I do like them for winter duties. Both the X-Ice Snow and the VC8 fall under the "Nordic" winter tire category, so they are similar.

EDIT: Also my IPP pricing is cheaper than anything else I can find new except Rovelos and even then the difference is like $15 between no name, and the VC8.
