Thought this might be a good place to ask. Looking to get my real tool chest.

I have limited space in my garage so I though about getting one of those tool chest with wooden tops that can double as a work bench. Every single one thats around 46 inch long is sold out all over the city. Is it a good idea? Or its out of stock because its a bad idea? Or should I stick with a separate work bench / tool chest. Again space is limited and thought from owner of both would be great.

Rule of Costco. If you are remotely interested in something, get it now. You can always return it. Funny thing, I rarely return stuff. If I don't like it, neighbour or someone in family wants it.

but its too late now any other suggestion? I saw another husky brand one in home depot. Literally snooze for one day and its sold out again

is the bench actually useful in real life? I see that there is no where to place clamps Don't know how much I will actually miss it.

Only thing I'm not cool with is the MDF top. I guess that can always be swapped out. Also would worry about build quality. The one at Costco looked very sturdy. The CT one, no idea.....

Look at me, I'm not even in the market for one. LOL.

This thread is almost as dad as chet........

Anyway, for those who shop at Princess Auto, they're having the $15 off $75 promo this month. As in, they give you a card this month that works in July. I use them on stuff that never go on sale, one time only deals, and special buy items.

My Milwaukee 1/2 inch 18 volt Fuel, cordless puts out 1100 ft/lbs of torque. Not cheap, but it's a beast. I did get it on sale a couple of years ago. I've seen the tool only go on sale at places like Summit Tools.

The impacts that are included in the sets are, meh.

Costco has 12x1L of Castrol engine oil for $30, I don't remember what other places sell it for but that seemed cheap to me.

It's just me. Should be okay if you look after it.

Just keep it from getting wet. Don't spill coffee on it, lol.

better than particle board, but not much better, lol.

can always put sheet metal over top, but sides will be the issue.

I'd go hardwood, like the Ikea stuff. That's what I have in the rape dungeon...... I mean, workshop. I have paint stains on it and who knows what else......... I abuse it.....bang on it with hammers and shit. Still looks good. And, if it gets real ugly, I'll just sand that shit off and maybe coat it with something. It's over an inch and a half thick, so not worried.

I just saw the new Milwaukee tool cabinet and chest combo at Home Depot today. A dream come true for a Milwaukee fan boi like me.

Soft close drawers and built in power bar (not even important, but)........ and that most important feature of all - the Milwaukee LOGO!!

So I'm thinking of transferring all the sockets from my previous socket set in a case to my tool chest but want everything to be organized and easy to find in pinch any recommendation when it comes to socket organization that's easy on the eye and easy on the wallet?

you can use the above, but if you still want it to be mobile i would recommend socket rails. this is especially the case for a home tool set. I find myself not always working on cars in the garage so its always easier to pull the entire rail with me. KMS should have rails too. They dont sit as nicely in a box though i must admit lol

I second the suggestion. Easy to read numbers on top is so important.

I picked up some awesome racking on clearance at lowes. I think they were $150 each. It doesn't list the dimensions on the box or anywhere I could easily find online. They are 72" tall, 24" deep and 77" wide, they are Gladiator brand by of all companies Whirlpool. They aren't as tall as the $199 Costco has right now but they are wider, and for me fit my space perfectly.

don't mid the mess as I'm organizing but you get the idea,
