Nighttime Drives

Anyone know any good places to drive/cruise at night or stop by somewhere for a nice walk? Besides Cypress

Hot lap of Stanley park

Presto 12-30-2014 09:37 AM

Take Marine Drive all the way to Whytecliff Park.

Is Whytecliff Park a good place to park and get out to walk? Or do you have to hike to the top or the end in order to see the views?

View of what? vancouver? If so then its a shitty place to get a view of the city.

If you want a view of the water, or all the islands surrounding the edge of the inlet, then its a great place to stop off.

Also you don't need to hike very far, if you park inside the actual park you can walk like 2 minutes up on the rocks and get a great view.

49th ave west bound to UBC highway, then go to Spanish Banks/Jericho Beach -- from there, you can hot-lap stanley park, or cruise up to north van/british properties/the quay in north van -- Loop I always do when I'm bored / :alone:

RuffleCopterz 12-30-2014 12:36 PM

Yeah of the water. The actual park would just be the main parking lot right? Do you have to trek through the woods (very dark and hard to see?) or easily walkable at night?

Porteau Cove

inv4zn 12-30-2014 12:53 PM

I went around Stanley Park at about 3 am a few years ago...

It was the scariest thing ever - everything is DEAD quiet, and it feels like something is always watching you.

I'd also suggest the marine drive, but if you're looking for a stroll, horseshoe bay is much better.

What about strolling Whytecliff? Or is there nothing to stroll/sit and look at the waves? LOL

whytecliff parking is fking scary, once ur inside the park theres like only 1 dimly lit light pole that flashes exactly like horror movies, and also its so dark in there, pretty much nothing to see other than listening to waves, ps dont go alone lol

The beach isn't too far from the parking lot. It's like a 30 second stumble down the hill. You can walk along the beach, or if you're looking for some danger in low-tide, you can try and rock hop to the 'island':

My friend and I used to go there during late night for some 420, after driving the curvy road a few times. There's usually no one there.

Dragon-88 12-30-2014 01:09 PM

I usually hit up the back roads in Maple Ridge. Then ill end up near Castle Fun Park for some Late night Mini Golf and Arcades..

meme405 12-30-2014 01:39 PM

I most definitely have never done this, and if you end up wrapping yourself round a pole don't come crying to me, BUT:

This is an epic loop, I used to live just up the street, and I have driven both sides of this loop from taylor way to collinwood school countless times.

Google maps says 8 minutes...:ifyouknow:

While were at it:

This is nearby as well.

I'm only been to lighthouse once 2 years ago after sunset.

From what I remember it was dark and kinda scary too. Walked down the path and we decided to turn around cause it was dark as fuck and couldn't see much further ahead.

pb.kidz 12-30-2014 02:57 PM

Lighthouse park is creepy and dark as fck. I've done with it a group of friends, we walked through pitch black for like 15 mins to get to the rocks to see the lighthouse

Burnaby mountain around SFU.

Super dark but it's calming. It's a good idea to scout the place in the daytime so you know where you're going.

murd0c 12-30-2014 03:14 PM

holy fuck you guys saying a parks scary are you like 12?

inv4zn 12-30-2014 03:20 PM

Fuck you, just like I was afraid of spiders when I was 12, and I still don't like them now, being alone in a dark-ass park with hobos and monsterss lurking in the shadowy bushes is still scary.

I'm scared of spiders but they are scary.. A park aint scary at all, then again I'm 32 if I saw some young punks I would prob freak them out for a laugh.
