$600 for a chinese piece of crap :heckno:

Gululu 01-15-2015 06:44 AM

Go Xiaomi :woot2:

Although I haven't watched the live stream release, but this is absolutely gorgeous.

Let the haters hate,:fuckyea:

StylinRed 01-15-2015 06:47 AM

I would've agreed with you years ago when you could find phones made elsewhere (woot finland! ;)) but meh all phones are chinese pieces-o-crap these days since they're all made over there (even the internals)

never played with a xiaomi but if they're anything like huaweis i wouldn't mind them

plus it's using japanese/korean branded internals (if that means anything)

wouldn't mind giving it a shot

SkinnyPupp 01-15-2015 06:58 AM

Not all stuff made in China is crap... but the crappy stuff sure is ;)

Not that this is automatically crap of course.. but if they couldn't be bothered to come up with a proper brand name, I have my doubts

FerrariEnzo 01-15-2015 07:50 AM

I wouldnt pay $600 for the Note Pro... specs arent too impressive for a company known to bring cheap phones to the market... I think they are starting to get greedy now that they have a brand thats well known around the world

Gululu 01-15-2015 08:16 AM

Snapdragon 810 soc 64bit 8 cores
Adreno 430
5.7"Sharp jdi 2k display
4GB LPDDR4
64GB eMMC 5.0
Optical image stablization
Lte CAT9 450Mbps Dual sim
HiFi sound
3d + 2.5d front and back glass
Looks sexier and lighter than IP6P

Still not impressive? All that for only 3299cny, ill take one.

The Mi3 was crap
The redmi was crap
The redmi note was huge and crap

But you can't find a 64gb phone (other than Meizu) that is at that price range.

But there is always expandable storage on other phones.

asian_XL 01-16-2015 03:17 PM

if they go unibody, there is no expandable storage just like other brand

I used the Mi3 for a few weeks - i like the os and its Android implementation. Its a slick device - the build quality could be slightly better but then again, I could say that about the Samsung phones and the HTC phones. To me it felt like using a really big iPod nano 2nd gen with a big touch screen.

blah blah blah. you can't even back up your statements with data.

3299CNY might sound expensive at first, but they are pretty much selling it at cost. Also, this is a company that's household brand in China. If their Mi TV sells like hot cakes with even higher price tag of 4000CNY+ then they should have no trouble selling the Mi Note. The reason why they are so successful because they have teams of people that can accurately interpret data. If one out of 10 people in China uses Xiaomi, then there is definitely a market for higher spec expensive phones, the data shows.

Define 'crappy'.

Proper brand name? wtf? why should we Chinese cater to the West? You cannot pronounce it? Too bad. Learn Chinese? We have been learning English for the past 40 years in our school systems. Why can't we turn the table this time?

To be honest, Xiaomi doesn't even need to venture into Western Markets. They have more happy clients that are more than eager to bring Xiaomi into their markets, I'm talking about India, SE Asia, Russia, South America, Africa.

BTW, hows your bitcoins portfolio working out for you? Are you still rooting for Umbrella revolution? How did that turn out for you

Your point?

These places can make the best quality electronics you can imagine. Stuff that makes the 2nd best quality Japanese electronics look like crap. Or they can make cheap crap. Which is what they do, because that's all they need to do.

Id I say Apple made the best quality electronics?

Quickly looking t some reviews it seem like they make a pretty solid phone.

Cnet gave it 4./5

Xiaomi Mi 4 review - CNET

[IMG]The Mi 4 easily ranks as one of the better smartphones this year, but you'd be hard-pressed to get hold of one right now. Expect stocks to be limited when it finally sells outside
China, but the Mi 4 is an Android phone worth trying to get your hands on. [/IMG]

and this:

It's also less than 1/2 the price of an Iphone 6.

Xiaomi, lol what a stupid name for a phone :heckno:

It's good to have thoughts but how is it stupid? I think its perfectly suitable to their company and makes perfect sense.

it supports fdd lte bands

StylinRed 01-24-2015 01:11 AM

the name, xiaomi, does seem stupid but when you understand the reasoning behind it you'll probably 'get it'

it's a very communist china minded name, i can see why they chose it

inv4zn 01-24-2015 02:38 AM

For those of us that aren't communist, what does it mean?
