Is this a deja vu with zellers?

zfdhzht 03-06-2015 09:35 PM

only because they took over a failing company but didn't do anything with it except added more lights and threw their branding over the stores http://ehealthwoman.com/apple/images/42.gifhttp://ehealthwoman.com/apple/images/49.gif

That's totally untrue ... they retained NO part of Zellers except real estate, which was gutted and rebuilt at a cost of $15-20m+ per location.

They didn't absorb any of Zellers' distribution or logistics arms... they didn't retain any of Zellers' staff.... their vendor relationships, etc... It was a completely fresh launch. Target's failings in Canada were strictly their own.

that was a bot that parrots posts that you quoted

it was a parroting of my comment on the first page though
and what i meant by it is they have the same model as Zellers, and Zellers was failing, but Target took that over...doing the same thing Zellers did (offering cheap goods and offering all types of goods) except target glitzed the stores up

Sunfighter 03-09-2015 09:01 PM

We have bots here now? Where have I been that I hadn't noticed!

Thanks for the heads-up.

I know for a fact that they retained some of Zeller's staff. Not all, but many existing Zeller's employees were offered to stay on for when Target moved in.

Everything else, not so much.

I was familiar with the HR and recruiting process. It's entirely possible that former Zellers employees were hired after going through the interview process but none were "retained" or "absorbed" by Target. Target did not buy Zellers. They bought their property leases and HBC then initiated a liquidation process of their Zellers stores to vacate those same properties by a mutually agreed date.

Target recruited aggressively and likely struggled to find the people capital necessary in the timelines that were required to get all of their boxes operational with the level of leadership that was needed.

Bump. No one keeping tabs on the price of Dyson's? I'm looking for the dc59 or dc62. Metrotown has no more Dyson's, and home outfitters is 10% off right now.

If you happen to see Dyson's at target, let me know the location

ImportPsycho 05-13-2015 08:32 PM

Richmond lansdowne mall location, looks like they are going to break it into smaller shops.

dub.g 05-13-2015 08:48 PM

and who are gonna be the tenants? all lansedowne has other than the big box stores (minus futureshop) and restaurants are cellphone kiosks, a giant store for floor mats, dollar store and clothing shops for women in their 50s

this is something oakridge center could benefit more..open up and divide where zellers used to be.. thats a huge 2 floor space
