I've never heard of a "no temper tantrum" law here in Canada.

10 years ago if you had an embarrassing moment, a few people witnessed it and you can move on with your life.
Now everything you do is on record, and it may come up over and over again. Instead of being embarrassed in front of a few to a dozen people, you're put on display to hundreds of thousands if not millions.
That's just how it is now... It won't be long before literally every minute you spend in public will be on record somewhere.

And another thing is that the demeanour of the BC Ferries clerk could have probably gone a long way to avoiding/diffusing the situation.
My guess is that the clerk there was one of those crusty, unsympathetic "You're late, too bad for you" cunts lacking any sort of customer service capability, like we all know work there. That sort of a response is just going to get people who are already upset even angrier.
Maybe if the conversation was more along the lines of:
"Gee, Sorry maam, you just missed the cutoff. We have to cut off selling tickets 15 minutes before the sailing so that ferry crew can make the appropriate safety checks and head counts. Our computers cut off sales, and we literally can't sell any more tickets. I sympathize with you but it's out of my hands"
Maybe that would have been received a little differently. Who knows.

Does that look like a full ferry to anyone? This is the type of stuff that pisses me off. Cars where left behind others paid extra to get on but the ferry left not full. | BC Ferries has a certain worker to passenger ratio so even though the ferry might not be full, they are unable to load more passengers due to someone not scheduling not enough workers for that sailing.

They can only sail with as many passengers (walk ons AND vehicle passengers) as they have lifejackets for. So if they hit their passenger capacity via walk-ons, they don't load cars.

Maybe that would have been received a little differently. Who knows. | But we don't have the beginning of the conversation. Maybe it went on for 5 minutes before the video even started and the clerk started off nice. She was already losing it by the time the video started.
And to be honest, I don't even mind how she acted when she was talking to the clerk. People get upset. But the screaming and shit she did after she walked away was terrible.
Crying and screaming at the clerk because she was 5 minutes late for the ferry and it already leaving is the same as if you screamed at the ticket agent at the airport because the plane you were supposed to be on already left because you showed up 5 minutes after it took off. It's your fault you missed it, and there is literally nothing they can do for you.

I'll hedge my bets that this clerk was one of those, and I'm probably right.

I don't know how this is going to sound, but I was really relieved that this woman wasn't asian. I'm not sure why I was hoping she wasn't asian, but when I saw the video and noticed that she wasn't asian, a sense of ease came over me and I was happy.
I guess as an asian I would feel embarrassed as I feel asians always seem to be depicted as crazy, cheap, ridiculous, etc.
Not sure if anyone else felt the same way or if I'm a little off for feeling that, but that's what I felt...

I heard someone say "Assume that when you leave your house you are on camera" and it's certainly heading that way. As much as I'm scolding the woman for acting immaturely or erratic I can also understand that maybe this event was the straw that broke the camels back and she just flipped. But all we see is the freak out. Unfortunately the back story doesn't matter due to us living in a world where everything can be recorded and published to a live social media site for the world to see. Now the world is judging you. It just is what it is.

Or may have had to limit the load due to weather. All sorts of reasons a "full sailing" may not be physically full.
BTW, I believe the worker-to-passenger ratio is a Transport Canada regulation, not BCF policy.
