1.351

Wow............. gonna close for the weekend at that? Luv it!

going to LA in a couple of weeks. Woo hoo!!!!!

MG1 03-01-2016 12:33 PM

1.339... slowly, but surely. Please, please, please go down to at least 1.25 by mid March.

Going to pray to the exchange gods, lol. Sacrifice some RS virgins (shouldn't be hard to find).

Lomac 03-01-2016 12:46 PM

Hopefully it keeps going up. I need to order some parts for the Saab and the exchange rate is going to kill me, even with my discount to the site. It's almost cheaper right now to order NOS parts and ship them directly from Saab Sweden.

koukimonst3r 03-01-2016 05:09 PM

1.358 today, exchanged some money through CIBC

westopher 03-01-2016 06:00 PM

Its actually 1.342.
Banks don't exchange @ actual rates. They sell you the currency for a fee.

Nlkko 03-01-2016 07:03 PM

Yep bank rates are highway robbery. Always charge a few hundreds pip or something stupid like that.

knight604 03-01-2016 07:14 PM

Way better to exchange at places like vbce

MG1 03-01-2016 08:05 PM

yup vbce on Granville or J & M at Metrotown when in a pinch.

even when if you have enough of a currency to get them to call forex department ~$10000+, the rates you get there are better than customer rate, or even staff rate, but it's still worse than VBCE rates.

RickyTan3 03-02-2016 07:30 PM

International Business RBC - not sure if other banks have it. Mon-Fri give them a call and you get live quote usualy 0.005 away from market

murd0c 03-03-2016 08:28 AM

When you go to your bank you can always ask for a better exchange rate which they will normally give you. I have don't it a number of times and it's worked every time.

smoothie. 03-03-2016 09:01 AM

Yep

Usually if it's more than X amount they'll match vbce for me.

unit 03-03-2016 09:11 AM

lots of small exchange shops will match vbce if you just ask

keifun 03-03-2016 09:50 AM

Although VBCE is cheaper than exchanging at a bank. I find those Chinese ones such as Kingmark have better rates than VBCE, for USD at least.

The difference is small but its still something if you are exchanging large amounts.

invader 03-04-2016 11:23 AM

I wish I knew this information before I exchanged my US currency.

Bank bent me over pretty goood.

tonyzoomzoom 03-04-2016 11:48 AM

or try charliescurrency.ca

I usually use Everforex since they've got a few locations that are convenient for me. (they're Chinese owned too). Only inconvenience I find with these Chinese shops is that they don't always have enough cash on hand. Out of the 10 times I've been to Everforex, they've had no USD 4/10 times I've been there. I now call before hand to make sure they've got enough.

MG1 03-07-2016 05:59 PM

1.3268 @ 5:00 pm.........fluttering around that mark.

I exchanged over the weekend a small amount just in case. Looks like the trend is going down. I'll wait till next weekend and exchage a bit more before heading out on the road trip.

Sold my car and got paid in USD, this is the only time I'm wishing for the CAD to drop again so I can sell the funds. Anyone looking to exchange CAD for USD?

Charlie's has the best rates in town hands down. I always go there, but I also deal with cash only in smaller amounts.

I sold my car to a US buyer as well and they want to pay the balance in US funds. I am insisting on CAD because I dont want get stuck with a 2.5 % or more loss when I convert it to to CAD. The dollar has only been climbing off it's low of 69 cents a few weeks ago up to 75 cents.

What 2.5% are you talking about?
