EM1 with a b18c5 swap. Yes it turns heads. But I live in Surrey and work in Langley. The Surrey jacks (with the Chrysler 300s) and Langley truck guys laugh at me.. PS I am brown and love imports. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...712_172019.jpg http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...4136ccfc4f.jpg |
Definitely, but more in a double take way. Because the Stagea isn't as flashy as say a 2 door sports car like a Skyline, most people just look at it quizzically and think it's a "souped up Subaru" or "definitely a Volvo, trust me" (actual quotes), and move on. Just today I pulled up to a light and a woman did a full on double take, but mainly because I'm a RHD. Funny, I thought people were used to that by now... The President, on the other hand...whole other story. Constant questions, stares and looky loos. I didn't mind at Nissan meets, but I don't have time to chat at the gas station. Best comment I ever overheard: "Hey look, it's an Acura legend with a shitty body kit" :fulloffuck: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b..._0040Large.jpg |
I drive a Ford Focus, probably the least head turnable vehicle around. |
I think in the 2.5 years I've owned the Evo I've gotten 4 thumbs up...all teenagers around 16-18 or so. I distinctly remember one kid looked like he was in a trance: eyes locked, staring as if nothing else mattered and the world melted away. That made my day because I remember doing the very same whenever I saw one of my favorite japanese sports cars as a teen. Few things beat making someone's day because they love your car. ..it's a win/win. That said, I always make it a point to be as open with people as possible when they want to talk because if the owner was pleasant it made for a great experience. Conversely if they came off as arrogant dick it was hard to forget as well. I understand that to some people cars are a status symbol but calling yourself an ethusiast with that attitude makes you the furthest thing from one in my eyes. I always chuckle to myself when I ask someone about their car at a meet and they consistently respond with "to the point" one or two word answers  guys playing all hard and tough at a meet...you'd swear there's a competition you don't know about. When I meet people like that it quickly differentiates the true enthusiasts from the attention seekers. Those that just want you to see and be impressed versus those who love cars and sharing that with others. Other than meets and the arbitrary fellow tuner - most people are indifferent. I always assumed the car would get more looks because you don't see them much (8 and 9 models). I get more attention walking my dog than driving the car. To most it's just a Lancer with a big wing, and if I weren't an enthusiast myself Id probably think the same thing. A 991 GT3 owner did come up to talk to me about my car after catching each other on the way back from Tofino...that was probably the most satisfying memory to date. I think he was a bit surprised on the stretch though I didn't take my chances with him on the twisties...precious cargo and best left for the track. |

I drive a MINI GP. And the exhaust pops and bangs. Lots of stares and "WTF is that?" faces. |
I always see people struggling trying to find out what my car is. Saw some guy actually stick his head out the window and look back at me once. I was just awkwardly looking at him. |
Yeah. The orange car get's eye F^&%ed by every early 20 year old woman....'s father. Maybe that's why my GF loves the car ;) Never been one to try and stand out. I don't like the attention. But the old dudes go right back to their high school days when they see the orange thing go by. |
It's hard not to...... when you see my car. |
Yup, probably because you don't see many and gold wheels on a black car kind of stand out. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3902/...bb7fa69b_o.jpg |
^ nice setup. Where did you get the L-tuned/RS200 kit? |
Most people just shook their heads at the big white dude in the Riced out Civic. Berz out. |
@EndLeSS8, sides and rear are OE Lexus L tuned, front is OE RS200 that is trimmed.......for a larger Ac condenser....yes that's it. |
not usually, but one guy asked if i was selling it and told me to contact him if i ever do decide to sell it.... biggest compliment i've ever received :woot2: |
nope |
Yup |
I never got around to painting my wheels so with red te37's on a black e90 i get alot of looks. I even got 2 thumbs up this weekend which had me and a buddy laughing pretty hard |
