I've owned 4 Chrysler minivans and still own one... they are INDESTRUCTIBLE!!!

The black and the white vans are both manual transmissions.

Still have the white manual van with the daisy wheels.

Who's still on a waitlist for a minivan?
What's stock like these days on new or lightly used?

Out of the four (sienna, odyssey, carnival, Pacifica) how would you rank them?

Badhobz 08-24-2025 08:29 AM

just get an alphard!

JDMDreams 08-24-2025 08:49 AM

^^ you can't beat this for $15000

exactly! most comfortable, best bang for the buck and reliable (if you get the 2GRFSE v6) with tons of parts available. You can easily kit them out on aliexpress and throw in a ton of interesting homely mods (side currtains, VIP tables, LED's, different screens, etc etc) remove the back seats and you got a huge cargo hauler too.

bcrdukes 08-24-2025 09:00 AM

You just want to see him die in a side-impact by some lady gunning it north at Slocan and E. 22nd...

underscore 08-24-2025 09:44 AM

Those are only $15k?!?!?! I was gonna go for a Lexus if anything ever happened to my wifes Rav but that's a lot of space and comfort for that price.

JDMDreams 08-24-2025 10:20 AM

If shit hits the fan and you become homeless you can live in it too :notbad:

That’s the only downside…. But hey, what are the chances he’ll get smooshed again.

Next year you can start importing the facelift alphard with the hybrid engine so might be worthwhile

Sienna if you care about fuel economy

Odyssey if you care about driving (but it's a minivan)

Carnival for looks

:heckno: Stellantis

:ahwow: odyssey over sienna. Gonna need more details

Badhobz 08-24-2025 06:50 PM

He’s just a Honda fan boy.

bcrdukes 08-24-2025 07:24 PM

Does the Odyssey still have transmission problems?

For the current generation Odyssey, some of the earlier cars (lower trims) had a 9 speed auto tranny, and those reportedly still have some issues. The ones with a 10 speed transmission are supposedly OK.

All new Odysseys being sold now -- regardless of trim levels -- are equipped with the 10 speed tranny. So if someone is getting a new car, it should be OK.

Honda and their lame ass automatics failing…. What is this a dodge product ?!?

bcrdukes 08-24-2025 08:22 PM

Would rather get side impact smashed in an Alphard.

Literally yes - the used the same shitty ZF 9 speed that Chrysler put in the 200 and Pacifica.

#1 for family use and homeownership - Pacifica. This is a piece of shit but the 2nd row seats fold flat into the floor & u get a giant underfloor cubby when the seats are in use. If you ever need to move shit or store sports/adventure gears for passengers, nothing else comes CLOSE. Sienna can’t remove seats, the Odyssey ones weigh 35? Lbs. try fitting a couch or desk in an odyssey lmao - it’s an extra trip to remove the seats.

#2 The selfish option: odyssey drives fucking great & that 10 speed hustles. If you’re a highway driver in most of the US where gas is cheap, this is better than Sienna.

#3 Sienna. Hate driving it - engine drones, the response sucks, it’s really shit. It’s cheap to run, has auto steer, is reliable, so relatively brainless if you don’t need to move shit in the car.

#4 ID buzz: it’s small but vibey. Getting really cheap with 20k dealer incentive + 8k EV rebate tho. My boss looked at one and said it wasn’t big enough for two kids and a pet.

Carnival: why? You get a 1.6T DCT and a battery from Hyundai of all brands ….

twitchyzero 08-24-2025 10:09 PM

new bus is as short as mid-size SUV but it's YUGE inside, legroom for days (and the dash is oddly long, probably for crumple structure)

I had a Town & Country rental once (forget which year) and holy, easily the WORST transmission ever! :heckno:

noclue 08-25-2025 07:23 AM

Sienna if you do mostly city driving but higher MSRP and toyota dealer availability games
Odyssey if you do road trips frequently but it's due for a redesign
Carnival if you like gadgets and modern design but untried hybrid turbo system
Pacifica has a decent pentastar V6 and the nifty stow n go but chrysler issues

I actually think the ZF9 is even worse to drive than the 62TE in the Town & Country / Caravan.
At least the 62TE was mostly predictable and kicks down fairly quick.

ZF9 has two dog clutches so it takes like 1.5 seconds and two kickdowns to get you ready for passing.

This is understated

- The radios glitch out with no real fix
- Pentastar and ZF9 both still blow up
- The adaptive cruise makes horrible grinding noises
- AC condensers and actuators

This is the kind of car you buy at a massive discount, abuse the capabilities of and sell once the warranty's up
