Thing is we shopped the V6 RAV4 in 2010....

Quote was for 38k on Limited V6 AWD w/ JBL and Leather. The Sport trim rode like shit on its 18s.
With the 2GR, you get 6.3s 0-60, 14.9 sec @ 92.9 mph

Over at MB, a GLK 4Matic was 42k - had standard auto diming rear/side mirrors, bluetooth (teenage me was very concerned about aux).
Dad was mad it took premium gas but Mom won this round.
Added premium pack for parking sensor, memory seat/steering/mirror, power tailgate - 45k OTD.
GLK: 5.8s 0-60 MPH, 14.4 sec @ 96.4 mph

My surprise was moreso over the sleeper factor though. Given how aggressively bland Toyota normally is.

"More than you need" level of performance from a euro is kind of par for the course imo. You'd never be surprised by a randomly fast Merc, as they typically AMG everything they offer anyway.

But in any case I'm a big fan of the GLK. Wish they kept going down that road, instead of pivoting to the GLC blob.

The Sport also has stiffer springs than the base and Limited.

GLC really felt like a fat step backwards

Yes to this. Any sport or SE trim within Toyota or Lexus has a stiffer spring rate than base, limited, or other trim.

Badhobz 09-02-2025 09:07 PM

Exactly why I stayed away from any f sport variant. Utterly stupid to create a compromise that is completely unnecessary. Seats are stiffer , bolsters are rock hard, suspension is firmed up and yet it still drives worse than anything German . Just stay in your lane Lexus. I’m buying a RX for comfort, why would I compromise that with an F sport variant?!? People are crazy.

JDMDreams 09-03-2025 05:10 AM

But body kit la, don't you get nicer interior bits? But I guess it's too sport but not recaro sport

Badhobz 09-03-2025 05:53 AM

What body kit ?!? F sport RX looks exactly the same other than the grille and the wheels. Fuck that shit. F sport maybe on an IS or GS but for sure not on a RX. That’s just stupid.

RabidRat 09-03-2025 06:02 AM

It's what the market wants! F-Sport buyers don't want performance, they just want to feel like there's performance. They just want flashy bits and to be a little roughed up. These aren't the same as -F buyers.

If this wasn't true then Lexus wouldn't make money doing this, and if didn't make money they wouldn't do it :D

bcrdukes 09-03-2025 06:05 AM

I agree. There's a market segment that Lexus is catering to where buyers get the perception they are buying a sports car while buying a luxury car. It's also to cater to those who don't have the balls to pony up for a European marque (I'm looking at Porsche) and can't stomach the maintenance and IMS problems.

BRB, while I go cry in the closet.

Badhobz 09-03-2025 06:12 AM

Oh I’m sure it makes them money but I’m utterly baffled at the sheer amounts of ah mos who drives an F sport RX. Like do you idiots even know what you bought ? I purposely looked for the highest non f sport trim for my wife. Perfect for her

AstulzerRZD 09-03-2025 06:15 AM

Do they offer F Sport design in Canada?
Like just the appearance bits.

F sport ES/RX/NX are just 10-20% sharper.
Good for California mans where every road is kinda curvy and undulating.

JDMDreams 09-03-2025 07:40 AM

I guess that's as high as you can get for Lexus, just like the m sport, AMG appearance packages. More than you can afford pal real m/ amg

I don't remember if you can add an F-Sport cosmetic package or not. It definitely won't have the suspension or seats etc. to make it ride like trash, though. :ahwow:

Badhobz 09-03-2025 07:55 AM

yeah exactly "10% sharper" on a wiggly piece of tofu is moot. I rather have it 10% even more wiggly and comfortable. Whats the reverse F sport. G-Life.. geriatric life package plz. Anti hemroid super soft seats, jacked up so you can get in and out without needing to bend your knees, and when you take a turn it better heave over like a yacht.

bcrdukes 09-03-2025 07:58 AM

You just described a Toyota Crown.

US gets F-Sport Design and F-Sport Handling options.
Design is appearance only, Handling gets the variable suspension.

F Sport Performance is big engine + some handling bits for IS500 and RX/TX500.

You'd have more space if you got rid of the RX!
