Car got hit and run while parked. "just" my mirror though. Dashcam caught the guy!

Car: 2015 mustang gt
Offender: N driver ford fusion or some 4 door sedan newer model

Video: will be uploaded after everything settled with icbc.

Kid just drove off. mirror in dozens of pieces and completed off the car. Speeding as well.

If anyone has any experience, how do I get police to issue a ticket or press charges, or will it not happen.

For now it seems like icbc will just take the cost of repair out of his policy. That seems really unjust that the outcome is completely the same as if he had left his information and not fleed the scene.

file police report for hit and run.

CRS 03-16-2015 01:06 PM

Had a similar incident. Called ICBC up and they offered to file it under a hit and run.

I didn't pursue anything with cops since the circumstances were different from you but from what I remember ICBC telling me, you can call their non-emergency line and file a report and use your case number with ICBC as reference as they will share information.

Back in November I was hit and run while I was sitting in my car - the other driver just drove away. A witness got the plate and I was told by ICBC to file a police report. Wasn't told of the outcome but I would assume they got a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.

Case finished, just emailed the vpd guy in charge of my case for more info. Does anyone know if it's illegal to post someones plate online during a crime?

Want to post the video. Or do I have to blur it out.

AFAIK, any filming that happens on public highways is free from privacy laws.

clevernickname 03-21-2015 11:04 AM

Do you mean highways as in any public road?happened in a residential area

Doesn't matter what you call it, it was in public.

highways are defined as basically anything other than inside one's own private property.

duy- 03-21-2015 05:11 PM

open and shut case clearly, you're shit out of luck. but seriously his plates are as clear as day, call icbc, bring usb or email or link, sit back and relax

How did you get it to record with your car off? Did you hardwire and leave it on when you leave your car or did use parking mode?

TOPEC 03-21-2015 06:04 PM

that street looks to be a bit too narrow to be allowing cars to park on the side
