These guys honestly do things that baffle me
I've had packages stuffed into my mailbox before to the point where the box is deformed and I can't even take the thing out. Or they do the typical sticking of the delivery notice on the door even though they didn't even try...last time the guy didn't even bother taking the package out of the vehicle
And of course somehow the large envelopes that clearly say "DO NOT BEND" somehow end up bent.
Definitely going the Flex route; speaking to the Ombudsman is generally useless as well, sure I end up receiving my package instead of it being completely missing but it still took a week or two, if not three over the projected "delivery date"
Not sure if pure incompetency or laziness or both

The reason I won't use my work address if it's Canada Post anymore is because of where I work, and the postal code associated to my work office they default all packages and letters to the main City Hall building vs delivering it directly to said office. It makes it more annoying for me since I gotta drag my ass over to the Hall and only during normal business hours.
Or I just utilize my parents address a lot since they're retired and are often home.

Ive had many items returned stating address error | Hmmmmmmm.......... I've bought shit loads of stuff from Amazon.ca. Could they all have been sent via Canada Post? I'll have to check. The Tamiya stuff from Japan would be Canada Post for sure.

I don't like their service since they knock on the door once and leave package there...

They give you your own PO box address.
vs
just to your home - mailman may never come, may not leave a delivery notice, no more missing /stolen packages/packages being left out in the open on your front door, no bent documents etc
absolutely love the flex delivery option and highly recommend it to you guys. It's free too

Once, so far, I've had a delivery from Amazon's own guys. It was a window regulator. I was still at work, the delivery guy called my cell, asked if I was at home. I told him my parents were, then he said that he thought they were afraid to answer the door and asked if he could leave it at the door, which I was fine with anyway.
I called my parents right after to let them know and they had no idea the delivery guy was even there looool.

It fit fine when the postie put it in, since their key opens the entire front, but with the frame around the individual door the box was a very tight fit. I had to stab my key into the box and slowly wiggle it back and forth to scrap it down both sides til it came out. My neighbours must have thought I was an idiot standing there taking 15 minutes to get my mail

Hey y'all, postie here, ask me your questions!
In a nutshell it comes down to staffing isxues. Carriers with high seniority get 6 weeks vacation and they all take it in December. The relief system isn't designed to accommodate that and they were **very** short on staffing quotas this year. So you have people with a few months cumulative experience taking out routes during the heaviest time of the year. I have 600 "calls" on my route and my average was 100 parcels per day, so for 40 days straight that's 1 in 6 houses getting stutf. That takes time. Priority is: scannable parcels, junkmail then regular mail. Add in ice and most carriers were told to do 1/3 (the junkmail section) then focus parcels. We weren't ready for this but hell did most of us try. I did overtime everyday, including weekends and holidays for 4 weeks, I hate Christmas, I'm tired, broken and can't wait for another parcel service to give us some relief. FYI Fedex, USPS, Purolator and UPS all gave us their overflow this year. CP did a million parcels a day every day in December. Its fucking grueling and that relief carrier on your route is hanging on by a thread, so a smile goes a long way.

I know that our packages are important and it's frustrating when you don't receive them on time, so hopefully this comment from reddit sheds some light on the situation.
Worst time to be a mailman with all this snow.

Worst time to be a mailman with all this snow. | working at Fedex as a courier, it wasnt much better for us. Not sure what that poster meant by we gave them our overflow..we were pretty swamped ourselves. UPS , not sure bout purolator, at least hires extra personnel to go with their drivers to tackle more in each route. And we dont get vacation during holidays, we go on a blackout where everyone has to be working lol And the snow really screwed us this year, we can't deliver a lot of packages when people live in really big hills and/or streets dont get plowed and we have chances of getting more stuck than usual

December sucks for all postal workers so you need to cut them some slack, especially with how cold the weather has been the past few weeks (and all the ice on the roads).
You can call Canada Post if they leaves a notice on your door without knocking or ringing the door bell. That's one of their biggest complaints, so they've been trying to crack down on that. Friend that delivers mail told me that the other night during Xmas dinner.

^ True... I was at the post office picking up a package the other day and the lady in front of me was ranting away that she stayed home all day and no one rang her doorbell just found the notice... and the post office lady showed her how to read the card and find the letter carrier's ID# and call in to complain about it.
