Can you give us a detail what actually happened. Most people here dont have no clue what's actually covered. It's not as black and white as ICBC car insurance.

Lawyers are stupid expensive @500 per hour. So, I really only wanted to use them, When I was backed into a wall. So, most of the leg work was done by myself.
So, yah. I know lot of people do not care. But, I was in a lot of stress when this started and did not know what to do. Since, I have never even been to court. These companies had lawyers galore, talking to me and trying to screw me. In person and emails.
So, I'm just offering any help I can if someone else has this issue. That is all.

it has to be an easy case....
How can they prove you were vacant?..do they have insurance agents knocking on you're door every day to make sure your home?.

I'm eager to hear the details too! It's such a rarity that anyone comes back here to report on how things concluded. Just thinking: It might be possible that part of his settlement terms would be he's never to tell anyone what happened though.

it's a fight that could've been avoided if the renovation contractor or homeowner had purchased a course of construction policy.

OP could have signed a non-disclosure agreement, hence no details on this.

Living in my apartment within a year flood happen twice (not in my suite luckily) Both them some stupid person/people set off the water sprinkle and basically flooded the units under/next to them. Is stupid.

Had a similar situation. Condo building shut off the water to do repairs. When they turned it back on the pressure caused the pipe in the wall behind the washer to burst causing about 50K in damage in mine and 2 other units. Originally I was on the hook for the damages. Luckily the person who was managing my condo rental was also on the condo board and he was able to convince the rest of the board to get the building endurance to cover it.

My strata council, made of grandparents, and other losers with no jobs who sit on council are doing all the decision making for the 3 million dollars worth of reno's my building has done in the last 3 years.
They have made so many stupid mistakes and cost the residents so much money it is infuriating. I've offered my services and feedback so many time as someone who is in construction, but they are bunch of fucking retards and stubborn, so they continue to fuck the rest of the building blind.
