I did get an A+ on a facebook spelling test yesterday so geek may apply. lol

Ulic Qel-Droma 05-26-2015 10:55 AM

it takes billions of commoners to support a genius.

that's the equilibrium.

just like animal breeding. you have to discard many specimens with average or below average features, to find that one super specimen.

the purpose for all those commoners, is to support the pillars of society, and at the top of the pillar, is the superhuman. the ones that actually make a difference.

the rest are disposable... err replaceable.

if commoners didn't watch commoner shit, they wouldn't be commoners.
a dog barks, a duck quacks.

cant blame a dog for being a dog ya know what i mean.

your problem is idealizing how things should be. rather than looking at why things are.

i don't think there has been anytime of age in human history where you didn't have to seek out intelligence.

if intelligence doesn't seem rare to you, that just means you're an idiot that thinks he's smart.

Seriously? That's the best you could come up with? I know you enjoy stirring the pot but most of your posts are exactly what your trying to make fun of in this thread.

Berz out.

If he was calling a mentally handicapped person a retard there is a serious problem with that. He's not. He's using a strong derogatory word to get a strong point across.

Berzerker 05-26-2015 10:59 AM

It doesn't matter. He's using a slang word about a specific type of person. Handicapped people are called Retards. Black people are called Niggers. Gay people are called Faggots. No difference. The only difference is that society has not adapted it's thought process on the word retarded. Only time will affect that, just like the others.

Berz out.

Ulic Qel-Droma 05-26-2015 11:04 AM

im pretty sure retard is not as offensive as faggot is not as offensive as nigger.

and it's quite different too.

because if you're calling someone a nigger... you're implying he's as racially inferior as a black man is... implying black people are inferior (which is not true? LOL... jk it's not true).

but if you call someone a retard... you're implying that they're as mentally disadvantaged as a mentally retarded person... implying that mentally retarded people are mentally retarded... which is true.

Phil@rise 05-26-2015 11:12 AM

it may not be as offensive a word to you but Im willing to wager there would be thousands of others who find it just as or more so offensive

Berzerker 05-26-2015 11:14 AM

I guess it just comes down to perspective. If you have someone handicapped in your life or not probably makes a difference as well. What you won't hear however is educated and respected people using the word Retarded in their daily speech in a derogatory way. More people than you probably know will judge you negatively for using it.

Unpopular opinion: The average person has always been a stupid bag of meat, it's just more obvious now that technology makes it easy to quantify (ie views on YouTube). I've effectively given up on having any hope for our race and stopped caring if people use the stupidity of others for their own gain because the simple fact is nearly everyone on this planet is too bloody stupid to live.

Sid Vicious 05-26-2015 11:56 AM

anyone with the exception of genetic outliers can develop intelligence given the right circumstances

the reason so many people are "stupid" is that they live in environments that suppress education due to war, poverty etc whatever reason

Ulic Qel-Droma 05-26-2015 12:16 PM

i also think it's sorta unfair to measure a video's level of "art" by the level of views it has...

views doesn't really equate art...

it just means... views.

i could upload a video of megan fox's snatch and it would probably make more money and gain more views than some artist that has been trying his entire life to make it big. LOL.

i wouldn't equate art or intelligence with popularity or number of views or whatever.

even the most art of art... the shit they have in museums and art galleries... get less views than, i duno, a video of a kid lighting his fart on fire.

i seriously hope real art never gets popular. it means either people are pretending to know something about art, and it's some fad to be "into" art...

or everyone somehow turned far more intelligent and i am now average HAHA...

no

i disagree.

given the same group of people.... throw into different circumstances (all together). i believe the same people would excel in terms of intelligence in every single situation.

the ones that would come out on top, will come out on top vs the others in the same situation. always.

people are NOT equal.

equal opportunity does NOT equate to equal performance.

the dumbest person in the crowd will always come in last, and the smartest person in the crowd will always come in first, given the same environments.

What you're describing is standard distribution. adding to my point above, I believe anybody with the right circumstances can achieve intelligence that would fall right around the mean or above it (or maybe slightly below it lol).

i don't dispute outliers due to genetic predisposition.

some people aren't even literate due to their circumstances, whats to say that given proper education they could not become great? we'll never know, right?

That cannot be the only reason given the number of stupid people in first world countries.

smokinloc 05-26-2015 03:53 PM

I think natural selection has something to do with all the stupid people in our day and age, think about it....
100 or so years ago these same stupid people that make stupid youtube videos would have been taken out in one way or another by nature. whether it would have been from being out in the wilderness, diseases and illness', or just from the shoddy medical care available at the time. We live in a time when medical science can do remarkable things to heal people and cure diseases, so less people are dieing off, thereby reproducing more un-intellectual offspring and so on.....

Phil@rise 05-26-2015 04:11 PM

natural selection would have taken half of them out during my childhood. Modern helmet laws and hover parents have saved far too many people from the certain death they otherwise would have received lol

TLC USED to be "The Learning Channel", where they had cool robotics shows and automotive competitions (anyone remember Full Metal Challenge? A Canadian team brought out a Snowcat and nearly won). Now it's "reality shows" about people who couldn't wrap it up, "saving money" by purchasing enough food to survive a nuclear attack, and inbred hicks powered by Mountain Dew and Doritos going about their daily lives.

I'm learning something now: People are fucked.

When I was a teenager TLC had the best shows. I can't remember any of them now other than Junkyard Wars. At my house growing up all I watched on TV was TLC, X-files, and Much Music. ( They played a ton of music back then! )

TV today is literally so retarded I cancelled cable, sold my TV and now just torrent or Netflix shows!

GS8 05-26-2015 05:13 PM

I find it supremely ironic that with all the new conduits created to access new information instantly, people are still as stupid as ever.

Social media being the best example of this. I mean how hard is it open up a new tab in your browser and type something in Google? Even if you type it poorly, the damn thing will correct it for you.

Remember....in this day and age of revolutionary scientific discovery and application....people still think vaccinations are bad for you.

Do you think people that 100% trust the Canadian government are stupid?

B!tch 05-26-2015 09:07 PM

Westopher, I know you didn't use the word first but from the past post of yours that I have read, you seem like a mature thoughtful guy, so I am going to call you out for this one error in judgement.

It is not ok to use that word to get his point across.

"He's using a strong derogatory word to get a strong point across."

He may not be calling a mentally challenged person, that word, to their face but the fact he is using it at all is wrong.

Spoiler!

68style 05-26-2015 09:48 PM

Omg seriously get over the retard thing, change the title of the thread to "really stupid people getting rich" and be done with it, beating a dead horse here

Gucci Mane 05-26-2015 10:07 PM

have any of you heard about these kids on twitch who are making $10-20k/month from playing FUCKING VIDEO GAMES? it blows my mind that there is so many people out there willing to watch others sit around and play video games and actually pay $5/month subscription to their channels.

CharlesInCharge 05-26-2015 10:27 PM

Seems like the populace is stuck in the "Matrix" as a result of our systems indoctrination. Mainly due to media (Hollywood, news, shows) and schools.

As for extreme causes, I personally think introducing heavy metals into an infants blood and for it to naturally cross the blood and brain barrier is one of the top problems causing Autism, second being malnourishment for proper brain function, third being fetal alcohol syndrome.

These things are systematic and will not change in our lifetime.
Oh and drugs! not just street drugs but ones from "doctors"

It's no different than watching any other professional athlete or sports team.
