The problem that I've encountered is, sometimes the people calling other people retards are not the sharpest tools in the shed either. The self righteousness I've encountered in real life is six feet deep. You aren't perfect, because nobody is.

I don't like listening to artists like Miley Cyrus, or watching corny youtube videos like the ones linked, but that does not automatically mean that everyone that does is mentally handicapped. Everybody has done something in their lives that another person would consider unnacceptable or "retarded", regardless of whether or not the action taken warranted it.

People have outright told me that I'm retarded because I like guns, that's not much different from the behaviour that has been displayed in this thread. Lots of people think that modifying cars is stupid and without purpose, and trying to explain yourself will likely result in lots of huffing and puffing. Regardless, it doesn't make you or the person arguing with you "retarded" at all.

You can call anybody retarded, but it doesn't mean that you are superior in any way.

Btw, the term used, "retards", goes past my boundaries. Can remember catching an old friend years and years ago red-handed. It was pretty serious, so I asked him if he was retarded. He totally flipped out. I sensed something happened to him as a child. I would suggest and even urge not using that term directed to a child or teenager.

We don't know if they smiled ironically or not, or what caption they chose, or what filter.

If they used Hefe to pop the yellow colours and noted that they were smiling due to their white privilege keeping them safe, then I'd say that they did it ironically and they should be given ice cream.

On the other hand, if they posted it with a simple caption about someone getting shot while smiling and using an Earlybird filter to enhance their skin tones, then they made themselves the focus of the photo AND didn't make any statement with the requisite irony; they should be immediately banned from wearing skinny jeans and drinking craft beer for a week.
