Haha all kidding aside. Old people have been through some shit. War(s), the great depression, watching the world around them deteriorate. Corporations killing small business opportunities for many.. Today's youth are mostly entitled, lazy shits whose biggest problem is that the internet is slow or their phone has no signal. #firstworldproblems
I'm a pretty optimistic guy myself and have noticed I've become more surly in the last decade or so. Getting old sucks and I imagine over time your attitude starts to suck too
Old people get a pass in my books. Tell your grandparents you love them if you're lucky enough to have them around.

Lots of people are pricks. Old, young, white, chinese, fat, skinny, etc. You just chose to pick a characteristic of an asshole, or assholes you met and made an unnecessary correlation to create a stereotype.

Dude I swear Safeway on Willingdon and Hastings is the worst place for this shit. Here's two examples.
#1: I was signalling to park on my left and I had made eye contact to an elderly gentleman walking towards me. I move my car to the left, still signalling and getting ready to back in and checking blind spots. I start backing in than the cunt who was on the other side walking somehow ends up at my window(I guess he decided to cross where i'm fucking backing into a spot in my blind spot instead of walking two more steps than crossing) he starts fucking telling me to watch out for people and shit. In my head I was like ffs dude why would you walk into my blind spot right after I had checked, signalled before that, and used body language/eye contact to confirm I saw you even before that), anyways this guy didn't stfu and I lost my temper and told him to fuck off and gtfo my way.
#2 Same Safeway a few days later:
So my girlfriend goes inside to grab ice for our cooler, and I'm sitting in my car smoking with my music turned down. Some cunt old guy gets into his car in front of mine and literally just stares at me as if he suspects I'm going to start shooting everyone or something, he gets on his phone to pretend he's calling the cops or something while staring at me(I did absolutely nothing wrong he's just possibly a racist fuck who thinks some dark kid is in the parking lot up to no good). Same time some old asian granny slams her door wide open with no fucks given, hits my car and I tell her "excuse me, could you not slam your door into my car please?" and she doesn't even look at me as if she can't hear. Anyways my girlfriend comes back and the old douche in front realizes in his head "Oh he was waiting for his girlfriend, his dark ass wasn't here to kill people in the middle of the fucking day" and drives off. wtf?
Anyways that's my contribution to this amazing thread.

eh, it's alright for someone(Presto in this case) to be upset with the stupid shit that old people do. It's just intolerance, we all have it. Of course old white people are racist, they grew up in a different world. Go see Gran Torino and it will shed some light. Although sad and sometimes upsetting, it's just the way it is. Maybe they fought in a war. That will certainly change your perspective on an opposing race.
Either way, old people get a bit of leeway from me as they have earned it by being around longer and seeing more shit than I have. Respect your elders is how I grew up. Although thee is a line and if it's crosses then all bets are off.

Old folks clog up my area with slow driving. Old folks are taking all our tax money in pensions and whatnot.
Old folks are filling up our hospitals and doctor's offices.
But they also lived full lives. I can't tell the difference between a guy who was a bum all his life, and a former war hero. So just treat them all with a modicum of respect. Hopefully the day we're there ourselves, that people will treat us the same.

My Opa on my mom's side was a medical doctor in General Rommel's Afrika Korps, so you can imagine what sort of shit he was subjected to. However, he wasn't a willing participant because while he and my Oma were Austrian, they were in the process of getting their German citizenship right at the onset of WW2 and the only way they could keep any citizenship and not become stateless was to fight.
My dad's family is an odd mixture of Russian/German/Austrian Jew. My grandparents on both sides never met one another until the early 90's. It was an... interesting... meeting. I know my mom's parents never had any actual hatred toward the people they were fighting, but my dad's side definitely had family members die in the camps. Even as a kid, I could see the nervousness, hesitation and tip toeing around certain topics.
All that said, I can definitely understand how certain generations will have something ingrained into their mind. When you've been taught something for decades and suddenly find that it's no longer socially acceptable, it's hard to change. Whether it's religion, incorrect cultural behaviour, racism, or anything else, if it's all you've known for 60 or 70 years, it takes more than just a newspaper clipping to change your belief system. It's why I don't get terribly upset when I see such people saying certain comments, whether it's about racism, gays, or something that's a standard position for the hard, hard right in politics - it's all they've known and, frankly, it's not likely to be changed.

oh man i feel u, dont u ever mess up their email, if their emails stop working, they'll raise hell. i once remote desktop into an older dudes email to fix some issues hes having, first thing i see on the screen, a giant pic of a dick hes trying to send out thats not sending, so out of reaction i quickly click somewhere else and clicked on his sent messages, its him sending an email about how hes gonna get that person wet and dreams of touching that person. and then theres this old lady again remote desktop into her computer and check on her email, right when i open her email client first thing i see in the subject, ORAL SEX...
boy were those phone calls awkard...
