Pretty sure the $1 each is a loss leader
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loss_leader

Pretty sure that $1.65 is the ballpark standard retail price for the average varieties.

Kumamoto and Miyagi should be closer to $2 each I think?

I just do Whole Foods. Same price as Lobster Man but they shuck them for you where as Lobster Man doesn't.

Whole foods typically has 4-5 kins with the Kush being the most expensive at around $1.40/each but most of their other ones come in around just under $1/each

Whole foods put it in a take out tray with a bed of ice. Consume within 2 hours is what they say.

I usually eat them within 15 mins from door to door.

I'm heading to Granville Island on Sat to get a bunch from the lobsterman, hopefully the prices will still be decent. Will report back with pictures.

Damn never mind but thanks anyways tho.

So I called Lobsterman yesterday and they currently have lighthouse oysters this week for $9.95 a dozen. Heading to Granville island in an hour or two and will let you know if they have any other decent selections

I want to thank everyone who suggested the lobsterman, went today and picked up two dozen light house and one dozen little wing oysters for $9.95 a dozen. I haven't shucked oysters and I'm so shocked how easy it actually is. Nothing beats some oysters on the half shell and oyster shooters!!

I got 2 dozen Lighthouse for myself from Lobster Man. Was quite refreshing.

My first time schucking was actually quite easy. I used an old blunt veg peeler. Was super fast and didn't get a scratch. Retained most of natural brine.

Something that looks like this.
