My wife jokingly always says "if it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush her down"
She heard it from an old elementary school teacher who said it was a common rhyme from when they were living in California.

Yes, level 4 is next and the highest stage. If the weather stays hot and we've little to no rain, expect stage 4 to come.

What stage 4 means is basically that any water used other than drinking/cooking/bathing is banned. That includes commercial car wash stations, gardens, outdoor pools, water parks, and those huge ornamental fountains must be shut down (fountains are already shut down). People who've already bought permits from city hall will be void.

If you can....quit watering your grass, washing your cars, pressure washing your sidewalks/driveway's and quit arguing when given a ticket. If you're caught, just own up to it.

Those who ignore the ban, I'd like to say fuck you. You're making my life a living hell at work... I've enough shit to do during the day aside from listening to people snitch out their neighbors, sift through THOUSANDS of permits, and then write out a letter to each house that has been called in on.

Wonder when the city will come by... already called and haven't seen shit.

On another note: Our reservoirs are not low, they are only considered low when in comparison to other years.
The media doesn't know, and the government isn't going to talk about it.. But with all the underground reservoirs we have, and the new systems to pump water from 1 reservoir to another, we will never be in a "serious problem" with water.

We on this board understand that we need to conserve water, but there are so many people that just don't give a fuck, and those people ruin it for everyone. Thus the restrictions have to be put in place as a scare tactic.

Some ppl don't care even if you fine them. Rich selfish a-hole would rather their lawn looks nice. A few hundred bucks is pocket change to them. I say if you get caught twice the city have the right to shut off your water supply for 3 days, do it again 5 days.

^ just base the fine on the assessed property value.

Most any cabins/places on a sensitive septic abide by this rule. I see you don't get out much ;)

It's not that they don't care. It's that they value whatever it is they're doing above the cost of a ticket.

For example, I may be going to visit some friends up the Indian Arm this weekend and it's boat access only. You're damn right i'm gonna run/rinse the motor out and wash the outside of it when I get back home. Will I bitch about the ticket; no because the value of not having rusted cooling passages in the motor and a not rusty trailer outweigh the few hundred bucks of the ticket.

PS. Yes I could just avoid the trip all together.... But it's just too beautiful up there.

Mikoyan 08-03-2015 10:22 AM

Came home last night to see the COV bylaw officers out at 1130pm, peering at lawns on the next block over.

Didn't know they were out that late.

thumper 08-03-2015 11:19 AM

they have to because many homeowners think they can get away with sprinkling under the covér of night... supposedly they are doing this in burnaby as well but when i called them the other day about an unrelated garbage collection issue they denied it.

yray 08-03-2015 11:39 AM

Mikoyan 08-03-2015 01:44 PM

I did my part conserving water, by being out of town for a week.

FerrariEnzo 08-03-2015 04:42 PM

I just have a few wet towel and just wipe it off the best I can.. after it dries, you can see white color from wiping it.. at least it wont stain so bad like it would if you just left it...

Gh0stRider 08-03-2015 05:18 PM

Hey thumper, your post was over an hour ago, so whats the current situation? Is it still cloudy (millions of tiny tiny tiny air bubbles that give it a milky appearance), or has it cleared up now?

hi-revs 08-03-2015 09:35 PM

My lawn is fairly green because i use the aquarium water that i change out to water my lawn.
125 gallon tank. Change half of it weekly. Collect it from a siphon outside into a 5 gallon bucket. dump it on to my lawn and shrubs when the pail gets full.
