Feeling quite poor this morning :QQ:

I know that place. The ex's grand parents lived right next door to them. Beautiful house for sure. All the homes in that area are.

Waterfront from ambelside - west is getting insanely pricey. I'm guessing just due to the supply. While the British Propteries and surrounding areas continue to expand up the mountain/west, there is almost nothing left to be developed on the water

One of my best friends step dad owns down near this place, bought his house like 20 years ago for 800k :okay:

originalhypa 09-17-2015 11:47 AM

Wow.
I'm curious who lives there now. At $23.8 million, there aren't a lot of folks who could afford the taxes, let alone the cost of the house.

Ronin 09-17-2015 12:04 PM

You know you're a baller when you have 1.) a professionally produced video about your house that takes 5-fucking-minutes to show it all... and 2.) a scale model of your house inside your house...

Mr.Money 09-17-2015 12:13 PM

$30,766 Tax 2014 - damn that's a small car you're throwing away each year for taxes.
Edit: about the same taxes as any 10 million dollar mansion in west Vancouver.

Our company has an office boat cruise on one of those magic moment party boats every august and we pass by those homes every year. For every 10 we see, one has a family out on the dock. I say those are just kept there as party houses or summer mansions for the ultra elite. We even see some homes on a small island of their own and you need a boat to leave your property. I think it was Eagle Island or something? They have their own private little gas station hut for their boats.

Some of the houses on the seaside are more modest than others.

My office faces million dollar apartment units around coal harbor that are empty year-long, no renters, and someone to come in to clean once in a while. I don't think these units are bought to be lived in, more so for investing and turning a profit or bringing random girls up to bang.

westopher 09-17-2015 12:24 PM

Thats a really cool place. Normally I'd expect something much more gaudy from the ultra rich.

white rocket 09-17-2015 12:34 PM

Super baller. Very tasteful, love the exposed brackets everywhere. Has a nice warm feeling to it. I would have definitely expected something totally distasteful.

Am I the asshole that thinks the rich have no taste? Why yes. Yes I am.

Here's your chance with the upcoming 55m lotto max lol.

Eastwood 09-17-2015 03:40 PM

Not a lot of sq ft land for 23 million?

flagella 09-17-2015 03:47 PM

Perfect for mainlanders. They hate lands.

Alby 09-17-2015 07:18 PM

would love to plow in every single room

In my opinion, British Properties is also just not as nice an area as Ambleside, Dundarave, or Caulfield. The number of homes that are either vacant (and even derelict) or under construction doesn't give it the vibe one would expect from an established, affluent area. Of course, the other areas of West Vancouver also have a significant number of homes that are either vacant or under construction, but I don't think to the same extent.

SoNaRWaVe 09-17-2015 10:24 PM

that house would be heaven. you can have all sorts of rooms. arcade room, rec room, theater room, and all the man caves you can think of.

hope someone here wins that 55M and pull the trigger on that lot lol. rs party every year.

TIL there is such thing as a yacht garage.

stewie 09-18-2015 05:21 AM

Beautiful house for sure, but its a house I personally wouldn't want to live in.

There's just to much room. I would never be able to fill the house to the point where it would be a cozy home.

Hondaracer 09-18-2015 05:26 AM

Even with winning the lotto max, you couldn't really "afford" to buy this place

Exactly - blowing your lottery winnings on luxuries like this is a recipe for bankruptcy.

freakshow 09-18-2015 02:43 PM

i don't think i have enough friends to fill that places even if i owned it

Qmx323 09-18-2015 03:00 PM

Is this house even necessary :lawl:

It's not about necessary...it's about luxury.

And who doesn't like luxury?

Something creepy about this place;

$5 million for the weirdest home in Abbotsford

Quote:

Address: 39623 Old Yale Road, Abbotsford
Price: $4,998,000
MLS: F1437838

The skinny: A converted former BC Electric substation with a main residence, two rental units and a two-bedroom suite for extended family or staff spread over 13,000 square feet on two acres of land.

The bling: This one has been on the market for a while and is currently listed for around $1.5 million less than its original asking price. Why? Because it’s an unconventional property that’s been renovated with a lack of imagination: it’s neither a super-cool pad for the retreating urbanite nor a grand affair for those who fancy themselves master of a country chateau. But look past the dreary furnishings and straight-laced interiors and this could be totally rad. Yes, you would need to rip out all the nasty yellow bathroom marble and the boring kitchen cupboards, but you’ve saved a ton of asking-price cash already, so what’s the problem? With fabulous floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed brick on the main floor and cute round windows in the rooms at the top, anyone with a design eye could really make this place special. For someone who wants to live in Abbotsford, of course.

The hidden extras: All the usual high-end yik yaks—wine cellar, steam room, media room, elevator—with the added benefits of immediate access to some seriously beautiful countryside.

Hondaracer 09-18-2015 03:13 PM

that place will never fetch 5 mill.
