so icbc said gave me a total loss for this....

ineedhelp 10-15-2015 02:43 PM

and it still runs

ineedhelp 10-15-2015 02:44 PM

rest of car is intact no airbags only damage to that area and hood

underscore 10-15-2015 02:47 PM

So what's your point? Hood, bumper skin, bumper, light, fender, fender liner are all toast, then possible frame, suspension or engine damage, why are you surprised it's written off?

trollguy 10-15-2015 02:49 PM

anytime the wipers come on after a crash, they will consider it a total loss. ask your adjuster. happened to a lot of people on here

Dragon-88 10-15-2015 02:49 PM

Your front end damage looks severe. Although I cant see in the engine bay i'm sure there some damage to the front frame.

Car is worth about $10K(LE Model, based off your rims) so I dont think its worth fixing. Take it as a loss and get a new car. That generation Corolla isn't that great anyways. I would know, I have one..

If you wanna part out those rims, lemme know I need winter rims..

ineedhelp 10-15-2015 02:50 PM

its a S model

Go on...

ineedhelp 10-15-2015 02:55 PM

lol.....well its a bit more expensive than a LE

Traum 10-15-2015 02:58 PM

If I am seeing what I think am seeing, it looks to me that your driver side frame rail is hit. Generally speaking, I wouldn't want to keep a car that has sustained any frame damage, so I'd say ICBC is doing you a favour by writing off your car.

Your bumper rebar is also hit. Between the bumper, energy absorbing material, rebar, etc., the bumper repair alone is going to cost more than $3k. How much did ICBC estimate your car's value to be? and how much did they think the repairs will cost?

I can only say, in this case, I am not surprised your car is written off.

Dragon-88 10-15-2015 02:58 PM

Ya, then take it as a loss. Plus do you honestly love that car that much that you wish they fixed it?

There you go. $12k repairs, and your car is worth at most $12k as well. So why would anyone (including yourself) ever want to fix it?

Start looking for a new car for yourself. Get well and recover from any injuries you might have sustained. There is no point in moaning over this loss.

?NR 10-15-2015 03:12 PM

how'd you end up on the median on alderbridge?

In anycase, general rule of thumb is if the repair cost exceeds 50% of the total value of the car it gets written off.

looks like the frame rail took a good hit too. Frame time, refinishing time as well as replacement panels and parts add up pretty quickly.

it wasn't even serious enough of accident to injure me ...so that is why i am wondering how did it sustain so much damage

long story....lets say i was taking a right and smashed..

PDA_86 10-15-2015 03:34 PM

Even if you manage to fix it, it will never drive the same with a damage like that. Why bother? This isn't a Devil Z (Wangan Midnight reference).

trollguy 10-15-2015 04:27 PM

I bet the wipers didnt turn on for the devil z

bluejays 10-15-2015 04:28 PM

It's a corolla, get over it."Sort of sentimental" isn't a good enough reason to hang on to it, it will never be the same car again as others have mentioned.

:rukidding:

Then take it as a salvaged car and spend $12k+ to fix your "sentimental corolla"
Why are you here? Every single person here said to take the money. What are you asking for? Legal advice? You want to sue the other driver for sentimental loss?

flagella 10-15-2015 04:49 PM

OP is a moron.
