The EV charger is kinda interesting at $50000 especially if you can get a cheap rate too, but it's huge

I'm curious as to what Tesla's actual product strategy is - while they did two pretty big refreshes to the Y and 3 it sure seems like they aren't doing anything with modernising their lineup and other than being better at charging they are losing every other advantage.

FSD is still the only product that tries to do self driving in the city.
Their software integration with their chargers & route planning is still by FAR the easiest.

Even though their charging speed, etc all blows, it's an easy recommendation the way an iphone is.

Every foldable OLED will fail, it's close to 80% failure rate with microcracks, dead pixels, etc.

I get it, charging speed is slow, etc with the current Teslas. But for 80% of people, it really doesn't matter too much. We make do with a 110V 10amp charger and a 24kwh battery. There are days where that's not enough but if we had a proper EV that has a 75kwh battery, we can make do without a lvl2.

Are we both talking about fast charging?
Tesla is fine in Van cuz distances are short, highway driving is limited, weather is mild, etc

My exp is Ioniq fast charge drops from 180kw average to 100kw once it drops to 10C outside.
Add uphill driving, highway speed from SF to Tahoe and you really need the watts.

I'm talking about all charging scenarios.

100kw/h is still a decent speed for most intents and purposes, you can get more than enough charge if you sat down to eat a meal, maybe not if you just went for a washroom break. I agree sitting in the car for 30minutes though waiting for it to charge seems really dumb. I've seen people sitting in their Teslas at Richmond Center just waiting. I can't imagine doing something like that. But sitting and waiting for 20 mins and 30 mins, the difference seems a little trivial.

Yeah it's a total non issue in Vancouver.
I like having way faster charging than I need so I'm comfortable even with it's non ideal.

For example...

It's a little cold outside, there's a headwind, and you're driving uphill at highway speeds to Whistler/Tahoe?
You need more juice but you're getting 40kwh even with en-route conditioning.

There's a great food/rest/charging stop but you're at 60% battery?
You're getting 50kWh on Model Y, or 130kWh on Ioniq 5.

Look for pull tabs/cutouts in the rear seatback?

s90 has it on both seats

xc90 only in the middle

you will see a little handle at the lip of the seat cushion

I just serviced and filled up my M4 for hibernation. What a pain in the ass compared to EV. Plug it in once a week for me 240V way more convenient
