What oil to use for 16' wrx

Hey guys,

I just bought myself a 16' wrx sport tech and been trying to find what would be the best oil to use...I searched google and nasioc and have got mixed reviews on alot of oil types..as for the base I know from the Subaru manual that I should use 5w30 and synthetic! Any suggestions would be great thanks!

Whatever Subaru is putting in it is the oil you should use. Call the dealer and find out.

When you driving a stock brand new vehicle covered with factory warranty its best to stick with that Subaru Canada says you need to be using.
Speaking from a dealer level, if you experience some random failure and you are not servicing with Subaru and not using a suggest lubricant they CAN refuse you warranty on components.

As for a helpful response, frankly its going to be the best one your going to get. I have seen people do this with vehicles, experience a failure that is due to oiling and being refused coverage due to the choice in oils not being accepted by the dealer.

Why bother with anything other than stock on a bone stock brand new car?

I thought the consensus with the new fa20dit was that since it was direct injection + high compression, t6 would be harder on it since it's such a thick oil meant for trucks, diesels and such. Upon my own research into that oil thread on nasioc and other sources, I think Best Synthetic Motor Oil - Pennzoil would be the best for the fa20dit... Also, the regular Subaru synthetic oil is just some random no name bulk oil..

Edit: forgot to add, Ultra Platinum is one of the few oils that remain within Subaru warranty specs(can't deny your claim cause its an approved oil) there's a spreadsheet of all approved/unapproved oils on nasioc. Penzoil platinum euro performed better according to some users but it is not within warranty specs

Go with OEM oil that dealer use. Can't really go wrong with OEM. I find that it serves most of my needs for a daily driver. Unless I'm planning to track my car, then I would use something better.

That's why I got the service plan with my car... "Free" oil change every 4k km's. Plan will pay for itself very quickly.

Subaru is supplied from Blue Water out of Burnaby, and that is correct, the oil is Mobile 1 so its not some cheap junk oil.
Toyota is also all Mobile 1 fluids from Blue Water as are many other dealers in the lower mainland.
