Where can I eat X locally?

This will be similar to the 'Where can I buy this locally' except this will be food related. I'm sure we all experienced food that we had on a vacation that we've been craving for that we have no idea we can get locally or something we had once but the menu/restaurant discontinued it.

I'll start by asking where I can get some goong che nam pla (thai cold prawns) locally. I've had it almost everywhere in HK and Lotus of Siam in Vegas and me and the gf are craving it all the damn time

Chocolate cream pies. I've had plain chocolate cream pie back in the day when the Ironwood Tim Hortons opened but since then I haven't seen a place that sold pies of just chocolate and cream without any fruit.

+1 for San remo if you're in the area. Not sure if its authentic or not but its pretty good, although I've never had similar styled pizza so I can't compare

Hmmmm..I looked up the menu on Number E Food but I don't see it. Unless its an off-menu thing

jinxcrusader 01-21-2016 03:55 PM

If you don't mind grocery store ones, Save On and Safeway have been the best I've found personally (they're mini ones though).

Tried a Save On one today. I didn't like the crust. The search continues

I wouldn't even say 76% but its a big thicker pizza then we can normally get around here. I swear Chicago is the only place you can get a pizza close

murd0c 01-24-2016 09:47 PM

I make my own kinda sloppy joes and its pretty tasty and beyond easy. Brown some beef and then i toss in this Heinz Chili sauce cook it in and then put it on a toasted bun with cheese and its tastes awesome

You can grab a quick jambalaya fix from the Cactus club for $10 or so.

Tip: you can customize it
-ask for extra andouille sausage and bacon
-extra sauce
-for the rice, you can do white rice, brown rice, quinoa, I would recommend brown rice and quinoa combo

^ weren't Naka Bistro featured in the Van Sun a while ago (3 weeks ago)?

Only issue was htat it's in langley......

Galactic_Phantom 01-28-2016 10:55 PM

^Meh...for good food its worth it.

Back in the day Taka's at White Rock. Crossed the border for ribs at the bbq pit in Seattle etc.

Speaking of ribs, are there any good local places? I don't like Memphis Blues. I go to Re-up sometimes in New West at the Quay market's food court. Not a fan of Hogshack all that much either
