Porsche 911R |
would be nice for an option without stripes like the original R..not that I will ever be able to afford a 250k vehicle http://www.total911.com/wp-content/u...15/10/911R.jpg |
Too bad it's almost impossible to get one regardless of I actually thought about putting my downplayment money towards one as this would be one of those cars that would appreciate in value but 918 owners get first dibs and only 991 units produced. ...so no chance |
unless you ebay it and over pay for your enjoyment. |

hmm all the sources I've read says red/green stripes are standard |
NEVER SAY NEVER!!! |
Serious question, what's so good about this car? I did some Google research before I posted this, but I don't find anything impressive by today's standard. 493hp, 338lb-ft, 3021 pounds 0-60mph: 3.8 sec top speed: 200mph What's so "pure" about this thing? I know they have used all the expensive materials like magnesium and titanium, but frankly Rauh Welt 911s are much lighter than this. (yes, I know RWB 911s have no luxury interior and all the gadget this thing comes with) I am still not convinced that this is anything impressive...unless I missed something. Lotus makes more "pure" cars than Porsche in my opinion. |
Nothing is standard at Porsche lol If you're the sort of Porsche customer who has bought a number of high-end cars from the maker they will do almost anything you ask. It's crazy to me how losers like myself can't get a paint-to-sample GT4, but if you had previously purchased a 918 they will paint your GT4 hot pink if you ask. |
Porsche reveals stick shift car for purists - The Globe and Mail OK, looks like the biggest buzz about this car is that it has manual transmission. Manual Tranny = PURE GM has done it already with 0-60mph in 2.9 sec...and I'm assuming for much less price tag. http://cdn.boldride.com/chevrolet/20....15.997766.jpg |
I agree its far from a pure car with all the electronics still in there but its nice to see they are offering a manual on a GT3. The GT3 has always been the most "pure" 911 out there IMO and was a bit disappointing to hear there 991 GT3 was PDK only. |
I have been obsessed with the GT3/911 Turbo S lately and this thing just blows me away :sweetjesus: |
If you talk to any Porsche 911 purists/enthusiasts/fanboys, they only love air cooled 911s. It's a true story. |
This car is not all about the manual transmission to a porsche fan. It's about combination of parts that makes the perfect 911 to a driver plus the heritage of the 1967 911r. If I could afford one and can get an allocation, I'd buy one without thinking twice. IMO it's the best street/mountain 911 to date. It would be perfect having one beside a GT3 RS but it's not replacement for it. Speaking of Z06, id take a gt4 over a z06 anyday. |
As I said, the 911 R is nothing impressive. The only reason this thing is getting media attention is because it's made by Porsche and it's their new lineup. If 3rd party tuner were to mod a 911 GT3 and make it exact same spec, same weight, color, power, everything....nobody would've given 2 shits about it. Why? Because it's nothing impressive. It also does not live up to "pure" hype. I'm sure we can all agree that "pure" 911 has already been built by 911 enthusiast. Singer 911 4.0L Flat 6, 390hp 3.8L Flat 6, 360hp 0-60mph: 3.9 seconds (360hp version) curb weight: 2,650 lbs 460hp version also available upon request Only comes with manual transmission http://www.multivu.com/players/Engli...bc18344.HR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TyxjItm.jpg |
Singer is in a entirely different price bracket though. 911R is 210k Cad, a singer is nearly 400k USD. Find me another 911 with 4.0L, manual transmission and 500hp for around $200k. For the same $$, Id take a singer for sure. Singer is impressive, every 911 fans' dream actually, but it does come at a price. |
and enough about the 0-60 times for %$@# sake...not one person here except timpo really gives a single #%$@ about it |
Lol at bringing the Singer into this. stick to GTR bro |
While the specs are decent, the look just does nothing for me It looks like a hipster wearing a beret. After that I dont really care how fast it is because I'd just buy an atom full spec atom if I only cared about going fast. |
Take a GT3. Add: -displacement boost (i.e. RS stock) -updated manual transmission Delete/change: -rear wing, aero -sound deadening Development time: "only" 13 months. Increase price. Got it. That being said I love this car! |
I love that Singer... Hot dawg. |
RWB, Techart, Singer etc are all nice and well but I always see more value in a wholesome package from factory vs aftermarket not to mention none of those cars are brand new...the only exception is RUF Timpo I can't believe I'm responding to you...sometimes less is more. The design around this car clearly isn't about spec numbers...except for maybe its weight. |
I'm glad to see a big company like porche actually making something for purists in manual form. In fact nowadays, the fastest vehicles aren't even pure gasoline engines anymore. There's no better feeling that shifting through the gears yourself. I hated every single day of my automatic Evo when I owned it. |

Motorcycle enthusiasts complain because of fuel injection and electric start. They like to choke the engine, kick start, warm it up for 2 min and go. Many of them don't like Panigale and R1M because of modern technology. That's why people are bringing back cafe racers. Airplane enthusiasts complain because of modern electronics. They like to use magnetos, fuel primer, adjust mixture, warm it up, etc. and go. They don't like Vanair, Glasair or Lancair making modern electornics with glass cockpit. They like to stick with taildraggers like Piper Cub and Cessna 120 or something. |
this car is fucking dope but porsche tax to the fucking max with this one. only 991 units and 918 buyers get first dibs. lame. ill take a z06 and z/28 camaro to bash on the track over this. plz n thanks. |
